A big part of the immersive experience, for me at least, is feeling like I’m part of the story/plot. Unlike watching traditional 2D videos scenes that are 10-15 minutes in length, I’m investing more than an hour in some cases to be immersed in a VR scenario. I’d like to see more creative backstory/buildup/pretext that would allow the viewer to feel that he is more of a character in the scenario rather than just a formulaic POV participant. There is really fertile ground to explore and to build scenes upon—e.g., being seduced by someone’s wife or a female co-worker a friend’s (step)daughter, or your stepdaughter’s best friend or your friend’s mom. Or cheating with someone’s wife. Or the tension surrounding wife swapping. Or maybe even darker taboo themes (like being part of a secret sex society—e.g., an Eyes Wide Shut scenario). The possibilities are nearly endless and I for one would be willing to get absorbed in those types of backstories in order to enhance the overall experience. Just a thought.
