  • Glitch? 120FPS For AI PT Q3 Working On ALL Scenes!

I Accidentally discovered this... borderline Glitch 😅
First make sure the FPS counter is ON, so you can monitor the FPS. I believe it's in the main DeoVR settings, when you can see the Grid.
Then make sure 120Hz is selected for the refresh rate.
Make sure Sharpness is set to zero and save it as Default. Anything higher and it will only play at 60FPS.
Now here is where it gets weird... Any scene that is played from ANY Interactive Playlist... like from here: https://www.sexlikereal.com/interactive
... now will play at 120FPS!
That same scene played ANY other way only plays at 60FPS!
So, for some strange reason the "Interactive Playlist" makes it possible to play All scenes with AI PT on the Q3 at 120 FPS with noticeable Much smoother playback.

Can Other Q3 Users Confirm This Works?
...Also, Quest Game Tuner not required 😅

Thanks for sharing your observation renstimpy11. Actually, if you set the refresh rate to 120Hz, the system should attempt to play all videos at 120fps as best as it can, regardless of the video group or playlist. What caught my attention was your observation that setting the Sharpness above 0 causes playback to drop to 60fps when playing videos from the Interactive Playlist, even with the display refresh rate originally set to 120Hz. I followed your instructions and tested this, but I wasn't able to observe the framerate dropping to 60fps when I force the Sharpness above 0. See video below, maybe I got some steps wrong 🙁

renstimpy11 I now realize the step I missed, I hadn’t enabled Passthrough AI. As you rightly pointed out, the video immediately drops to 60fps once the Sharpness level is set above 0. This is clearly visible in the video recording below. I’ll be forwarding this bug to the development team. On that note, I can safely say that you are correct 😛 You can play with AI Passthrough with Q3 at 120 FPS, provided that you don't increase the Sharpness level.
Thank you for bringing it to our attention, truly appreciate your input!

damson As you rightly pointed out, the video immediately drops to 60fps once the Sharpness level is set above 0

This has been a known bug reported many times over for over a year, it got fixed temporarily but came back with an update - Good luck 🙂

Probably needs a new engine to resolve the issue properly.

Too be fair it's not as bad as it used to be, as i used to get framerates of approx 25 fps with sharpness and Ai Passthrough applied, but now get better result of around 65 fps with a refresh rate set at 90 hz.

The main issue is the refresh rate which may not be picked up by some people's brains but i see a strobe effect at 72 hz or lower, so when it switches from 120 hz to 72 hz it's like night and day.

As you know this is a Meta issue and not an issue that SLR can resolve - You were spot on with your analysis IMO 🙂

Also when i use Autofocus the FPS will drop to around 50 to 60...

damson "you can play with AI Passthrough with Q3 at 120 FPS, provided that you don't increase the Sharpness level. "

      No, you can't.

It only plays at 120fps AI PT on the Q3 under the "Interactive Playlist"... that's what the OP was about. It only working with a scene in the Interactive Playlist. So... try and play that SAME scene outside the Interactive Playlist and it won't play at 120fps (between 60-90)... all sharpening at zero and 120Hz of course

... it must have something to do with the much smaller UI when watching scenes in the Interactive Playlist. Alot of things seem to be disabled there...

      19 days later

doublevr It would be wonderful if 120hz was figured out to work on all scenes... not just on the "Interactive Playlist."
I would definitely give up Sharpening to achieve 120hz sitewide.
      It's so much smoother playback.
Is this gonna be figured out on the Q3?
Maybe an option to disable some features for a more barebones player like with the "Interactive Playlist"

This is cool discovery. I had to try it and it worked as you said it would be. It is not 120 hz all the time but much closer to the limit and better than without "Interactive Playlist" or "My inteactive" I would say it is about 20 fps better than using "normal" method. Do we have any reason for this happening?

Whoa, I didn't know what I was missing until I checked this out. I've been so focused on finding the highest resolution and sharpening the image for the most realistic immersion, but a smooth 120fps playback is hands down the biggest factor. Since a video wouldn't stay locked in at 120fps during playback, is there anything we could do to keep it as close to 120 for as long as possible? Faster internet speed? Freeing up your Q3's storage space? Tweaking other settings other than zero sharpening?

sex33 funny I just discovered how much better PT can me when you tweak the picture settings manually. I little contrast and sharpening makes ALL the difference!

I’m going to try the interactive trick shortly

sex33 you would really love Quest Game Tuner. You can customize the app res as well as use a custom Hz for each app.
I'm still experimenting with the settings to get the best experience but with QGT I am getting 100Hz at 2048x2048 with Sharpening ENABLED! ... with the Interactive Playlist Glitch of course 😅

... with this glitch... at 90Hz setting, sharpening CAN be enabled and fps maintains around 90, AI PT scenes look really good. This is without Quest Game Tuner.

With this glitch my best visual results are as follows:
Quest Game Tuner Settings For DeoVR: 2048x2048, 100Hz

AI PT Scenes maintain 100fps with sharpening ENABLED and look Amazing!

renstimpy11 Thanks. I'll check out the Quest Game Tuner. A steady 90-100hz is a huge difference compared to when it constantly dips from 120hz to 60-70hz.
