I have been having this problem for about a week now.The latest speed test shows Latency = 58ms,Streaming = 6Mbps and Parallel Streaming = 2.4Mbps. My Wifi download speed is 500Mbps.When downloading videos from SLR,the speed is usually between 30 to 40 Mbps. Why the speed of my Quest2 has suddenly dropped to such low level? It's been working fine a week ago and I have made no change to my Wifi set up or supplier etc.I switched the Quest2 Wifi off and on several times to reconnect to the router, but it hasn't help.Any advuce will be appreciated.
Streaming freezes every 15 seconds
AlexSLR First of all, thanks for the quick reply. Please excuse me if I fail to answer your questions because I am not at all technically minded. In fact, most of the technical discussion in this forum are just over my head I don't really know whether I was using the Meta browser or app version. So the best thing to do is to tell you exactly what happened.
Things were fine up to just over a week ago.I put on my Q2,switched it on,clicked the DEOVR app,log into SLR site and clicked the video I want to play. That's what I usually do.I hope I have answered your question.
mgbgt35 So i had the same thing happen around the same time.
For whatever reason, my Quest 2 had switched from connecting to my wifi in 5ghz and instead connected at 2.4ghz which is MUCH slower and every scene i tried to watch was buffering over and over. I reset my router(unplugged and plugged back in) and then disconnected my Q2 and reconnected it and it switched back to the 5ghz wifi and the problem went away.
If you go into your network settings on your Q2 you can check to see which band it's connecting to to see if that's your problem as well
HughMungus Thanks for the reply.I did check the setting and my connection is 5ghz.I did reset the router, disconnect and reconnect the Q2 as you suggested, but it did not help.I am glad it helps you. Thanks again for the reply.
AlexSLR Thanks for your reply. Please excuse me for asking a seemingly simple question. How to 'open SLR in the Meta browser on my headset'?I usually switch on my Q2,click the DEOVR app, login to SLR.com,click the video I want to watch and that's it.Am I doing it wrongly?I did remember reading discussions in the forum about browser and other technical stuff, but I never quite understand them.
mgbgt35 Thanks for the details!
Can you please also specify whether the Quest firmware is updated?

Is the battery saver mode enabled when you experience this issue?
AlexSLR Thx for the reply.I followed your link and checked the Quest firmware which turns out to be up to date. The battery saver mode was not enabled.I did enable and disabled it,but it made no difference.
I might have jumped the gun a bit earlier. After I posted my last message,I watched some other videos and found that the picture did still freeze, but a lot less frequently.I then spent a long time trying all sorts of things with DEOVR and this is what I have found so far.Whenever the picture freezes,if I lower the playback resolution from say 2880 to 2160,it happens less. The lower there solution, the smoother is the playback. Most videos play smoothly in 1920.As the resolution increases,so is the stuttering.
So it seems the stuttering is somehow related to the playback resolution.I hope this information could help you to find out the root cause of the problem. Please let me know if there is anything you think I should try or do.Thanks again for your reply.
Perhaps a different angle on what I experience? Yesterday i had issues similar to OP description.
Some additional info from my case:
A: I saw this when trying to catch back up on the videos released the last two weeks. So on approx page 30 when viewing latest releases.
B: Loading and buffering was a lot slower than what I'm used to
C: Varied a lot from video to video how bad it was. Some(more popular videos?) was totally fine on high bitrate. Others was unwatchable on low bitrate(less popular videos?).
D: Tried to watch the 2 latest SLR Original videos, they buffered quick and streamed without issues.
E: When re-checking a video that had issues yesterday, it works OK today. Still a bit slow buffering, but no freezing/stopping
F: Not sure if related, but when checking backlog for 2 weeks old videos they sometimes load for a long time. Longer than I'm willing to wait. But if I exit the video and open it again, it starts to play immideately.
My guess is that videos that have not been viewed recently, it has to be either read from a to slow disk, or loaded into a cashe/buffer, and this process is sometimes to slow.
Example of video with slow buffring and frequent stops yesterday, that works OK today:
DeoVR Kelly & Alyssa Intimate Friends II
DeoVR version: 14.7.3088
Meta Quest version: 74.1017
jokkmokkmedsokk B: Loading and buffering was a lot slower than what I'm used to
I noticed that too lately. Not slower by a lot and not all the time but still. At the same time, DeoVR speed test results were better than ever (60 instead of 40 Mbps).
jokkmokkmedsokk Thanks for the details! We have forwarded this info to the devs.

Will do.
jokkmokkmedsokk The issue hasn't persisted on our end so far.
The QA team will try again, but it may also be a headset-related issue.
If possible, we suggest upgrading to Quest 3s: https://www.sexlikereal.com/blog/216-best-vr-porn-headset-2025
AlexSLR we suggest upgrading to Quest 3s
Going from Q3 to Q3S is not an upgrade. You should not recommend this to people.
SchnuppiLilac Haha, yeah wtf, that's a downgrade lol
fenderwq That best headset blog article is totally misleading and the gentleman who wrote it definitely knows better. Are they hoping that more people will enter VR porn once they learn that the cheapest headset is the best? Desperate times, desperate measures.
SchnuppiLilac Very misleading indeed. If it had said, best option for those who want a headset as cheap as possible sure but it's just a cheaper version with worse components then the quest 3 and with less features but I don't have to tell you that
