Now that the quest 3 has the feature to allow HDMI as a video input, can the DEOVR app accept that as a video source as well? I shouldn't have to explain how valuable it would be to have a direct live feed from the camera. Seems like a no-brainer feature to implement.
HDMI Input on Quest 3 available on DEOVR?
Yeah that would be the biggest improvement in the VR filming in history by a margin of magnitude. To be able to see in real time how things would actually look on the headset.
xeddin1 To be fair there are existing methods but they are overly complicated and expensive, Hugh Hou just did another video with high-end wireless video transmitters, network drives, custom davinci maps, and a custom version of OBS and he seems to get great results but it looks like a mess. So if the quest is already accepting and passing along HDMI video inputs and its seems to be a feature nobody is really utilizing, then why doesnt DeoVR app allow that input and we can simply apply one of the default rf5.2 camera presets already on the player and have a live preview, even if its a lower 4k resolution, I'm not quite sure what the max input resolution is, but for quick and dirty monitoring even 4k is good enough.
metichemsi there are existing methods
There was one for DeoVR pre-HDMI. But don't ask me anything about it, all I know is that there is this blog article.

SchnuppiLilac Yea, even Hugh's older video is a little more fleshed out, but really, if the headset can already accept an HDMI input then what would prevent them from simply passing this through their app, other than some more development. Seems like all the groundwork is there already to simply have one cord to achieve this? Am I missing something, obviously I am not a developer, but if all that's missing is development on their end to make something like this work then I would be extremely disappointed in their sprit of "pushing forward" VR with their "innovations" if they dont instantly focus on getting us this.
