This is general feedback from more than 10 years of being a VR sex connoisseur. For background, I was an early backer of the original Oculus, which cumulated into the release of the CV1. I've tried almost every VR sex experience under the sun ranging from games to video. I have multiple lifetime subscriptions to various content avenues ranging from SLR to VRCosplayX after industries splintered and tried to become independent.
In my experience, these are the stand out things that have occurred in the VR.
VR GAMES:
I've tried every VR game under the sun, I have a steam library of over 200+ games and everything possible to get in VR. There have not been to many advancements in VR games and most of these are model posers. In my opinion there are only 2 real VR game experiences that cut above the rest of the "trash."
1.) Extremely modded Skyrim VR:
It will take months if not years to learn the modding and get it right, but after perfecting a mod list for adult VR content with HIGGs the Skyrim VR experience is phenomenal. There are so many graphical and engine updates that you can push even a 4090 to its crying point and get an extremely high quality game. There are mods like Amorous Adventures that interweave the sex content into general game content and plots.
2.) Virta-Mate (VAM):
You can only get this from Patreon. Virtamate or VAM is the internet's best kept secret. It is less of a game and more of a full physics and production engine for creating the most insane VR content. VAM is extremely hard to use and has at least a multi-month to a year learning curve. It supports everything from passthrough to toys. It has every model ported into it from under the sun and is the ultimate fantasy scenario generator. The engine is capable of rendering models that are CGI movie/blender quality and it takes a NASA space computer to run. Some content creates for SLR are building their content in VAM. It is very very hard to setup, but well worth it once you get it going. There is also a massive community codex of created content (VAM-hub). While production on VAM1 is ended, VAM2 is in the works but is a very very long term project. There is absolutely no limit to what can be created in VAM, but it will take multiple weeks to create the perfect scenes -it will also melt your video card and CPU. I cannot understand the quality and realism that VAM is capable of. It is by far, leagues above any adult gaming engine out there. It does have optimization issues so expect some imperfections and low frames on even the most powerful hardware.
VR HEADSET TECHNOLOGY:
There really isn't much to say here. I've tried almost every VR headset and right now the king of the pack is the Quest 3. The headset is very powerful and is capable of running 8k videos without a skip cordless. The real differentiator is the passthrough AR capabilities, which are best in class right now for afforability. Passthrough is an extreme game changer and having someone virtually in your own room is extremely intimate. The Q3 with passthrough, DeoVR, and PrismVR viewer is all you really need. All the other peripherals are behind.
TOYS:
I have less experience in toys but did invest in a Handy, which is a phenomenal device. The handy is very easy to get working out of the box -especially with SLR platform (I'll describe in later sections). I do have normal sex outside of VR regulary with my nymphotic wife and I can tell you that with certain scripts and the right setup, a Handy with VR feels pretty close to actual sex (it's different in ways but absolutely comparible). It's actually so good that after using it, I promise it will completely destroy normal masturbation for you. The only upgrade beyond a handy is having actually fucking you while you are watching VR.
There are some things to consider with the Handy. First, you need to clean your sleeves after each use and after about 7-9 months they will still get dirty and "yellow out" despite all your best cleaning efforts. I buy sleeves in pairs because they will wear out and need to be replaced. Don't push their use beyond these expirations for your own health. The handy also needs a cord and wall plug, so factor that into your setup. It's not a remote device. Additionally after about a year the central screw will need relubrification. I'd advise in investing in some food grade grease (ensuring its not toxic) and reapplying it to the screw using a flathead screwdriver before running the holder up and down to set the grease. You will need to do this to keep it "working strong" and preventing the motor from weakening.
For lube are several options that namely fall into several categories. Very liquified water based lube works pretty good for a close to a wet pussy feeling. However, using plain vasoline (you need to use a heavy amount) has alot of grip and can provide a very tight feeling experience.
In my experience the best sleeves were LIPS and LOTUS, as they feel the most authentic to actual sex.
The handy is a near perfect device, but it is obnoxiously loud. You do learn to tune it out over time, but it can be immersion breaking. I would say this is its biggest downside.
VIDEOS AND PLATFORM CONTENT:
Out of all my lifetime subscriptions, SLR is still the leader. This is because of several factors:
- Ease of use. SLR and handy integrations (once you setup the key and put the handy in purple mode) just works. VR porn has a high setup cost. From setting up the headset, to setting up your position and where you want to be, to dealing with cords. SLR just works, scripts load automatically through DeoVR and setup is easy. This is pretty important when your trying to setup your handy and trying not to lose a good boner through setup.
-Script delay. All of the other subscriptions I have outside of SLR have some level of script delay. Most use PrismVR and I've noticed about a 1-2 second delay on what the toy script is doing vs. what is actually happening. This can be annoying and immersion breaking. SLR platform is the ONLY platform that pushes the 8k streaming and has virtually no script delay. What is happening in VR is what I feel. This is a big piece that gets easily over looked. I assume other studios will get better with scripts and timing, but everyone outside of SLR just isn't there yet. The lifetime subscription was totally worth it as SLR is the only way to get accurate scripts on streamed content without having to download the full video and script locally on my quest.
-VR/AR Content: SLR has the best AR content so far. I wish they would have more cosplay stuff, but that is what my VRCosplayX sub is for. However X doesn't have the script timing quality or any AR options for cosplay. The AR content from SLR is crisp. It is important to note that there is a huge different between AI generated passthrough vs. native. In AI passthrough you see a lot of the background, such as spaces between a girl's arm that shows the original background due to the AI not catching it. With SLR original AR, the cutout is very clean and I do like the option of just having a penis and not seeing the male body. Quality wise, SLR originals is absolutely on top when they hit the target. Nothing I've found so far outside of VAM is cleaner. SLR 8k streaming also does not skip compared to other studios I've seen, where sometimes the motion can drop under 60 FPS and become noticeable (even with the right codecs).
IN CONCLUSION:
SLR platform (scripts and videos) and VAM are the absolute best content in VR. Other more kink related studios (VRCosplayX) are catching up but are not there yet. The AR quality, script timing quality, and toy integration of other studios is not even close to SLR platform at this time. Supporting and learning VAM, getting a quest 3 for AR pass through, investing in a handy, and getting a lifetime subscription to both videos on SLR and scripts were all absolutely worth it (expensive but worth it). I would say these elements right now are the pinnacle of the adult VR experience.
For SLR I would say the edge above the competition is:
- Ease of use, good toy integration, no 8k skips/frame drops, and scripts that are actually accurate.
- Extremely high quality AR content, and SLR original content in general.
Why I go to other experiences outside of SLR:
- To satisfy certain kinks, like Cosplay, which SLR has limited content of. Expansion of this type of content would keep me more on SLR.
- VAM, I do think VAM is something worth looking into from the SLR side. There is VAM content coming to SLR and think this is an untapped area -especially with AR and professional mocap.
