AV1 Is Now Live on SexLikeReal!
As you said, things change and even Google increases pricing for Workspace Plans. I have experience this myself as well but they give you advance notice for when it's happening.
This HBR download disable came out of nowhere with no notice which is the problem. That's why it feels like a bait and switch to a lot of people
We get it. Costs increases and therefore paying a Higher Tier Sub for HBR downloads is okay as well but please expedite that feature and please don't disable HBR downloads out of the blue until that is ready.
You can give advance notice to subscribers like "From X Date onwards we are disabling HBR downloads for everyone but HBR Downloads Tier Subs"
doublevr Google switched us a few times already for higher tier workspace plans. Don't hate us for innovation
What has google got to do with it?
Do you not self host your servers and storage? $100-$150k will get you 4PB of usable high availability Ceph storage with server-based redundancy that is infinitely scalable
A bit more if you buy brand new and not refurb enterprise gear
Build 3 of those throughout the world and you're good to go

Or maybe an "SLR orignals only" plan is an idea? I honestly could not care less about the rest, I barely download any of those 'amateur' video's or those old MilfVR vids for which I already have a subscription at that site anyway. If storage/traffic is that expensive, I'd rather only download HBR SLR originals. I honestly couldnt care less about all those other videos
But taking away HBR, SLR videos, THE reason I'm even a subscriber here, doesn't feel fair.
Or alternatively make a higher tier plan for HBR but DO throw something extra in there then, volumetric stuff for example. There are options that people will consider as fair. But this as it is, just taking things away that people thought they paid for, definitely is not one of them
harigeharry Honestly, I am happy with just a HBR only plan. This site is already adding completely unnecessary and useless features while ignoring their main USP - High Quality VR Videos.
Thought my own assessment was too harsh, so I got myself a second opinion:
If there's a plan without Flat content but having HBR VR downloads, I'd gladly take it. The reason I took the SLR subscription was for the HBR content.
SchnuppiLilac It's funny how a LLM can see through the bs better than people
I am pretty sure we can all see it, it's just that this person who is in charge of this site is what we have to work with.
harigeharry SLR Originals only exists I believe (slroriginals.com), but the catch is that it's still $20/month and they stopped adding their new videos to it a year ago, but ironically that's probably when it was last worth having a sub.
doublevr Focusing on Video quality alone will not make SLR unique and remarkable as long as the porn casting and overall theme is...
Huh, maybe I should write about my thoughts regarding VR Porn when I have a free time someday. Anyway, to each his taste and to each his decision.
And I know reading this, your mind will tell you that you succeed where everyone else has failed because of your decisions, but that's what's interesting about our egos/ minds, they deceive us most of the time.
This is why we return to history and this is why we ask/ listen for other's opinions (random complainers as you describe them) so we can make the right decision.
petex67 But that's the whole idea behind this sudden decision that's active immediately.
1- Make people complain until they ask for a new subscription plan.
2- Tell them, Oh, that's a great idea and we will consider this new subscription plan.
3- Make the new subscription plan that you "already" planned to add even before announcing the decision and tell your customers this is the subscription plan that "they" asked for.
4- Some customers will subscribe/ "upgrade" to this new subscription plan that costs them more for a feature that was in their previous subscription plans.
Business 101
The more I look at SLR as a business, the more I am confused what they are trying to be.
There's some Drive and AI thingy going on over at the other thread - a Cloud Drive for a subscription based Porn Site - why?
Then firing and rehiring of Directors. Can give some leeway on this one - maybe a Behind the Scenes disagreement or something.
Adding 2D content/compilations/etc. as opposed to more original content.
I just feel they are trying to throw everything on the wall and see what sticks. Or (which is worse), trying to do everything at once which is just a terrible idea in general and historically, every company that has attempted to do everything at once has pretty much failed and went bankrupt eventually.
To be honest I like what SLR are doing with Drive and attempting to get more viewers by adding 2D content which will then increase VR viewers and content - it's just the way they go about things is what I have an issue with
I do wonder if it's 1 guy at the top making these decisions on a whim or if they have multiple people planning and agreeing on a realistic roadmap
Is there pressure to reduce costs from AV1 server bills or is SLR just taking this opportunity to strip people of features and increase profits?
Right now it seems like half-baked things are randomly announced and implemented and rightly get a lot of negative feedback from the community
Leadership and feature stability isn't something SLR is known for these days and it's a shame, they have one of the biggest VR libraries and so much potential but these rash decisions are scaring away paying customers and tarnishing the brand
Just the fact that people have to spend hours reading the forums to get an idea of what changes are happening is eye opening. Any other company of this size would have big decisions planned out in advance and make a proper announcement via blog posts and emails - but instead SLR flip-flops on forums
Reading the video comments on recent SLR uploads has people asking why Original Quality downloads are disabled, they got yoinked with no notice, no discussion, no nothing
jommy Honestly it feels now like we're getting duped because of that whole 2d/flat content idea. They're obviously now hosting WAY more video's than before so if costs have gone up, then that seems like one of the key drivers. And again, 98% of us VR users isn't interested in flat content that we can watch for free elsewhere anyway.
It just feels extremely unfair. I will NEVER pay $7 for a video this way, even though I can easily afford it. But it feels like a scam and I don't like that at all.
1- Identity loss: They forgot they are a VR Porn dedicated site/ studio for VR Porn fans.
2- Blindly following: Best example is Apple Vision Pro headset with their INFERIOR "Spatial videos" AKA historically as Stereoscopic videos.
The whole "Immersive Flat" or whatever other names they call it is because Apple said so. You don't need a Sherlock Holmes to figure it out.
Instead of focusing and investing in higher standards regarding the cast and the overall theme to make VR Porn video masterpieces that will tie their brand with high quality contents which will attract more and more customers to their service as a result, they made SLR website like a Frankenstein that have many different things that confuse the heck out of any new novice VR porn fan who want to subscribe to their service.
Just imagine a new customer who heard a lot about how much VR Porn is amazing, comes to this site then look at all these different video formats without knowing what the heck they are, and his first encounter is "Immersive Flat" video. I don't want to be in his shoes that's for sure.
But, again, I'm just a random complainer, what do I know anyway. It seems AVP Spatial videos are more important than high quality VR Porn contents. It seems AVP SLR Customers are a priority. The whole three of them.
This isn't right, but we kind of it did it to ourselves as LT subscribers by sacrificing the ability to vote with our wallets.
If you haven't learned it yet, shaking your fist at the stone edifice that is SLR is basically fruitless. When it comes to business decisions, they listen and engage, but rarely heed.
What is left is maybe marginal impact, but its what is available:
- make sure those monthly/annual subscribers are informed
- spread the word through related communities and social media
- use every single ounce of what you have left--after all, you paid for streaming, downloads, support, etc, -- you should use every possible aspect to the maximum before they take it away
