  • AV1 Is Now Live on SexLikeReal!

doublevr You waste pixels on 190 FOV when most headsets struggle to even show over 100 then you lower the bitrate. I don't know all the details but it looks low quality. You don't need a degree from MIT to see when something looks bad to you. You know it when you see it. I know what the original videos looked like before and what the new ones look like now. They look obviously worse. If there was no difference why are you even selling the PPV version?

Why the hell I'm going to post and have the trouble and work of do the compare between AV1 and original bitrate? That is your work on seeing the obvious lack of quality. If you dont see it, I suggest you buy a pair of glasses.

And paying for high bitrate when I already pay for a subscription? Its just the tip of the water in terms of greedyness. If this is the way, its the wrong way and I'm not giving you any dime for it.

Thank you.

I did some tests and compared the AV1 and H265 versions as well as an old video in high bitrate master format. In the AV1 version we lose the granularity of the skin at the cheeks. There is still a loss of quality which reinforces the blur effect. On the master we see more granularity of the skin. I would have compared to the master version but we don't have it on this video. Now maybe this video has a problem. SLR seems to be investigating the quality issue I raised in the comments of this video.

From master video:

Last time someone made the effort to post such comparisons, I think the response was something like: this is negligible, you can only notice this if you really want to find it, end of story. But from a VR porn consumer's perspective, these quality improvements, how little they may be, make all the difference.

SchnuppiLilac I was curious to compare. Honestly, with the headset, I couldn't differentiate between AV1 and H265, even if we lose quality. This video is blurry by default because both formats are encoded at a low bitrate. Now we can clearly see the difference with the master on another video, and for now, I can't see the quality of the master in AV1.

Thread seems to be from before Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro were launched. Moreover, better cameras and lenses surely have released since this.

Your statement seems to be "4k video is like flat-earthers, all anyone ever needs is 720p video to enjoy media content"

I hope you understand the analogy.

We can have a frank discussion about what seems to be the problem on your end instead of running around in circles.
The audience (we) clearly want High Bit Rate Videos. That's the entire reason a lot of us signed to SLR for.

Are you as a company facing financial woes because of hosting costs?

If what you are saying - HBR Downloads are just a fraction of the SLR user base then that should barely be a drop in the bucket in terms of hosting.

If that is not true and more people are actually downloading HBR files, then I can understand.

Instead of trying to shoehorn the audience (us) into your vision of Low Bit Rate Files, why don't you come up with a better game plan to make SLR more sustainable?

There's a saying "The Customer is always right.... in their taste", why are you telling us what to like or prefer. We clearly have the taste for HBR videos.

boudaba Putting aside image quality for a minute, I am curious whether you are okay with the skin coloring in the latest SLRO PT scenes? The other day, I was looking into the SLR PT scenes with Lexi and Emily, and I got really distracted by the Twilight Cullen family-like skin tones, to an extent that image quality stopped mattering. In the same session I was watching the Anissa Kate PT scene from AR Porn with a much more natural skin tone, and this one was super immersive for me.

SchnuppiLilac You mean they're wearing too much makeup too white or the spotlights are too strong on their faces (I'd say this option)? What shocks me is the blurring effect. In the last video "Pink me!" in missionary position, her pussy is really blurry in addition to having a lack of light. So I don't know if it's the quality of the video or the way it was filmed the deep problem. I really hope this video will be released in a better format. The actress is so good that it's a shame not to see the texture of her skin.

Hairsational Probably not. I usually try to ignore all the flaws as much as I can to make a scene work for me. In this case that didn't work at all. Maybe I just had a bad day.

SchnuppiLilac yes indeed I see now what are you talking about. I prefere the more natural color (left).
I wonder if it's not the fact in the reality the backround is green and the production changes it to blue resulting in this white color of the skin....

If we already checking the quality, please consider these 2 advices:

            1. please provide the timecode of the screenshot next time so we could compare the same image
            2. Provide a full resolution snapshot from the video and not the screenshot from your monitor otherwise it make very little sense in term of details.

Now lets break it all down:

Yes, post-production does play a significant role in quality and details, but it's not all. SchnuppiLilac
Last time post-production researched the causes and possible ways of improvements - we did our best to preserve and enhance the quality and details, but aside from that there are things that only possible to improve during filming.
Below are the points that influence skin details. First 3 are on production.

            • first of all - the focus.

if the face is in focus - you will see the details.
the camera our production uses aint magic.
            it doesnt have anutofocus.
the focus is there where it is set, so for, the focus its not everywhere.
it is usually where it is set in the beginning of the shot and not changed until the end of the shot.
that is the reason i ask you for the timecode of where you took the screenshot so i could check if it was in the focus or not.
so if the focus is on the closeup then you wont see much details while she is at the blowjob, and even less if she is further away.

makeup is usually heavy, blurring all the details of the skin, unless the makeup is light or almost not required.

light plays a lot. if the face/body is too lit, the skin pores and wrinkles wont be visible.
that is not a secret and some people know that and use that to avoid their skin imperfections to be visible.
here is the example or you can call it a tutorial, or just google something like that
this one looks like fake but if real then its a too good of an example

            • 4 - Now here goes post production.

The scene goes through multiple steps of post processing that slightly reduce the quality of the image.
Not drastically, but little by little each step of encoding changes the very pixels of the video.
Those steps are necessary if you want to see

            1. Proper stereo correction
            2. No noise + enhances sharpness
            3. Alpha passthrough in its sense.
            4. Streaming and all the possible resolutions. (that one goes after post production and we dont influence this)

Below I attach the side by side SCREENSHOT of the RAW and Processed image
along with the high quality stills for you to download and play with yourself (pun intended)

click on the image and you will be redirected to the gifyu where you can see a bigger picture or download it or just check the stills that i provided
on the LEFT is the RAW image stright from the camera
and on the Right is the final alpha master file

            As you can see

            • all the details that are visible on her face - remain (you want to see it)
            • noise that is present in the raw video - removed (you dont want to see it)
            • hair (actual hair + eyelashes + eyebrows) details are enhances.
            • Slight skin tone adjustment.
              That one for SchnuppiLilac
I would say that actually the skin tone is subjective. More in the next message about it.

Depending on what headset you use and whether you use passthrough - the colors of the model's skin might or might not match the projected passthrough surroundings.
Be it a quest 2 with grey PT image
Or quest 3 with color PT image
Or quest pro with its semi colored PT image
Or some other headset you use.
But as i was to decide and experiment with the colors (prior we hired a colorist) - this was the skin tone i was more or less happy with.
Without those changes the model skin tone would be orange.
Add here a green spill that comes from the green walls that might be altering her real skin color.
And add the camera color shift (i noticed all the shots have that orangy tint and not just passthrough)
Good news is that we now do have a dedicated person (colorist) who has a sharp eye for colors and will be taking care of the colors from now on.
It is still a work in progress and i constantly give my feedback to our colorist regarding colors but hopefully we soon will get to the point where you guys will be happy with the colors.
Will try to make some sort of samples soon for you to compare before and after skin tone adjustments.
