  • Any easy way where higher bit rate scenes can be watched on Quest 3

What I've noticed is regular SLRO scenes with 30mbps work great. As I try for higher bit rate scenes, it's a hit or a miss.
Scenes which are 80 - 90 mbps generally work fine, though these are from other non SLR sites. But when I cross these bitrates, 100 and above, I just find my setup to have bottlenecks(Jittery stream, random pauses etc).
Tried moving the file to the Quest and running locally on it. Nothing changed much.
I'd love to experience SLRO scenes that are ginormous(50-100GB file size, 120-150mbps bit rate). Is there any way I can eak out better performance for this setup?

I haven't used Quest Link/Air Link much. Can this help?

Current setup:

  • Lenovo Legion Pro 5i 13th Gen, Intel i7, Geforce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU. (Dedicated PC would have been great but it's what I've got)
  • XBVR running locally on this laptop
  • Quest 3 running DeoVR/Heresphere to access XBVR stream over wifi.
  • TP Link Archer C6 dual band router(made sure I'm always connected to the 5Ghz band)

Waste of time. Bitrate gets useless at some point

The only reason we give 200Mbps is to make fun of those believing in high bitrate magic. Do a blind test and you won't know to tell the difference

SchnuppiLilac You can read my mind mate - but we will be in the naughty corner lol - you know you're tech stuff πŸ™‚

doublevr Might be some truth to this once you reach upper levels of bit reates, but I haven't experienced this though. Moving from 30mbps to 80-90mbps has been fairly great. The visual fidelity is just better imho.

One dumb decision I've made here is to have all these files on a HDD attached to this laptop. Anyone have any luck with a SSD or with Nvme SSD to stream these high bit rate scenes(100+mbps)?
Question is, am I storage bottlenecked or GPU bottlenecked(unsure if GPU is even involved when streaming to be honest)? Or quest 3 is the real culprit here😐

doublevr Can't confirm as I'd like to experience the highest bit rates to make a call. As you know my setup aint helping.
And for the relatively medium(80-90mbps) rates, I find it worth the effort. We can agree to disagree here πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
