  • Meta Quest 3s should I buy ?

Redhulk50 It depends on your use case.
If its for gaming, its just a small upgrade with a faster processor and slightly better graphics. You wont see the full benefit of it because of the lens on the Q3s are not as good a the Q3, e.g what you will see in quality is pretty much what you have in the Q2. Yes the passthough is clearer and in color, but in game, hardly any difference

if its for VR porn/film, then no, Lens are pretty much the same and the resolution is virtually the same, you wont see any difference here.

I personally would wait and save a little more money to get the full Q3.

Apologies it's now 5 new accounts - I hate manipulation and lies !

The Snapdragon XR2 (Quest 3 and 3s) is actually a huge graphical upgrade compared to XR (Quest 2), as big as XBOX to Xbox 360. Probably a bigger graphical gain than we had from the last 2 console generations.

Redhulk50 Taking all things together, I would recommend that you rather should try to put a little money on the side month by month and upgrade to a (high end) Q3 at some point later. If your budget is so tight that it will take you forever to gather the additional $200, then you should use the $299 that you would spend on a Q3S for other things and stay with your Q2.

Silly-Sausage guess ima fan of meta 🤷‍♂️

But, let me rephrase, as soon as I get money I can wipe my ass with I will then decide to buy it. But I'm saying as good as it looks for that price I plan on getting one, eventually 👍

Mikexxx169 I personally would wait and save a little more money to get the full Q3.

Agreed there, just cuz the q3 has pancake lenses.

But if you don't want to spend 499.99 (I heard the the 512 gig q3 is 499.99 now) I think you'll be fine with the qs3, looks good "for the price"

If u going from a q2 to a q3s thats definitely an upgrade.

Vrsumo2017 Another view on PT. I understand that the software-based compensation of the missing depth sensor in Q3S makes the PT image look a bit worse under daylight conditions, while there is no notable difference when lights are dimmed.

But don't let this put you off your path. I know I once told you not to buy this thing. I've since realized that I was wrong and I have no problem admitting it. In fact, I now think you should even buy two, because two will be twice as good 😃

Lovely, thank you - that's usually my first thought when purchasing a new device too

As a kid with no money and little income i used to purchase Technics Audio Hi-Fi monthly payments (which is still going strong 30 years later) and all the reviews said the thing about ass wiping and having too much money to care about other peoples situations in life, thanks for the aspirations and life changing comments 🙂

No wonder kids are just odd with medication required

SchnuppiLilac In fact, I now think you should even buy two, because two will be twice as good 😃

Well, when ever money starts falling off my trees 🌳 I'll buy three! 👍

Till then it's q3 for me.
Fap fap fap fap fap fap fap 🍾 😏

If the resolution and the lenses are the same as the Quest 2, then i would wait till you can buy a Quest 3 (they will be cheaper and already are). The only win is the new color cam for PT. I bought the Quest 2 for finding out if VR was something for me and it's price. After i bought the Quest 3 with a discount i really wish i purchased it right away.

I was told the Quest 3 would just be slighty better in VR performance than the Quest 2.... well i think the Quest 3 is way better, the overal image is sharper and more detailed but more important... i now have the almost real VR feeling.

        SchnuppiLilac Another view on PT.

        And another one

Q3s looks less saturated on this video, looks brighter too. 🤔

        Anyone actually got it yet?

Same video BTW, Twitter link. 🤷‍♂️ well same user, side by side instead of on top of each other.

Vrsumo2017 Why would you get the 3s? Do you think a cheaper price means improved features? It's the opposite. It's a downgraded version of the Q3. It does not even use Pancake lenses. And, the visual quality is downgraded. The passthrough is of less quality as well due to this. Think about that, cheaper price, better quality? I don't think so. "The Quest 3S picture is quite good, but it is noticeably more grainy and has a narrower perspective than the Quest 3. The more expensive headset offers a significant step up in visual detail, justifying its equally significant step up in price." https://www.pcmag.com/comparisons/meta-quest-3-vs-meta-quest-3s-whats-the-difference

silentcoder Why would you get the 3s?

Just to waste money if I had it 🤷‍♂️
But honestly I just wanna buy it, I still got my gear vr, I have q2, a q3, need that q3s...

If I could buy the old oculus I would just to set them up on foam head or something. 🤷‍♂️

FOV was my biggest nit to pick when I went from the Go to the Q2 and the Q3s has the same thigh FOV, both at 96ºH × 90ºV. Also Resolution is the same on the Q3s as the Q2. If you are looking to upgrade go with the Q3.

I just got a Q3 referb off the jungle site last week and it's much better! With 110ºH × 96ºV FOV and higher resolution.
