DannySLR Silly-Sausage Can you please specify what color profile are you using in your VR headset ?
The correct color profile is rec.709
These two scenes, along with others completed earlier, were color graded and mastered before we began testing the new, more vibrant and contrast-rich color correction. All recently completed scenes and those currently in the mastering stage are using the updated color grade.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on the new look in Sparkle Tonight, which features the updated color and will be released on September 10th!
@DannySLR Hi Danny - Thanks for the reply 🙂
I have to admit i've got quite an odd setup with settings that i use to work around issues with the DeoVR app., and i know you will just say i'm using the wrong colour profile, which is understandable.
I'm on a Quest 3 and actually use 'Rec2020' with saturation at -6 and Hue -3 as a default.
I like to use this profile as it is slightly over saturated with reds that jump out at me, and i compensate for that by turning the saturation down to -6 (sometimes lower on certain scenes). The reason i do this is a bug in DeoVR that has been around forever that if saturation is taken about (approx +10) it creates artifacts, bitmap blocking on certain areas of the scene like walls etc.
Whereas reducing saturation doesn't create the artifacts.
So yeah i understand i'm not using the correct profile but that's because DeoVR has issues going back years - Also issues with 'Sharpness plus or minus' destroys frame rate .
Anyway, i had a bit more of play last night and found that having +5 on the contrast helps get back to the quality i prefer.
I have to be honest and say that my main player is Skybox but that doesn't hold individual colour adjustments for each scene so i prefer a constant colour grade of all scenes, so i don't have to mess about adjusting colour / contrast etc.
Also just to add the colour isn't terrible in any way, but i just noticed it just didn't seem to have the same contrast as in the sample in this link (No.1) and i thought the team may have chosen the wrong colour grade.
At the end of the day if you're using another colour grade for upcoming scenes then i will see how that goes and look forward to 'Sparkle Tonight'
Apologies for the over complicated answer - Cheers
