Rec2020 vs rec709

Hey everyone.
Here are some test samples of a short 30 sec video encoded with different color profiles:
Rec2020 and Rec709
please upload to your headsets and check if you see any noticeable difference in color.
⚠️ Don't forget to change the color profile while preview each accordingly.

Manny_S The 2020 Rec one seems corrupted, at least via mobile browser playback, that's the message it gives about corruption.
"Video can't be played back because the file is corrupt."
(Doesn't work in Firefox Android browser, just gives the aforementioned.)

Switched many times between the two and each time compared different colors but i can't spot any real differences also not in saturation on my Quest 2.

I actually preferred Rec709 but using the Rec2020 profile to add more colour

I had some issues using the Rec2020 file, a bit stuttery, also when played in Skybox the contrast and saturation were blown out completely, so i think there is probably something wrong with the encoding on this file.

Manny_S I watched both videos in DeoVR on Q3 with the appropriate color profiles activated. Without being able to watch both videos at the same time side by side, I did not notice a difference in terms of colors.

I thought the rec2020 video looked a wee bit better (sharper) which might be due to the higher bitrate (144 vs 84 Mbps).

It's the same when I play it with VLC on a computer. I guess what you would need to make it look right is an option to switch the color profile like you have in DeoVR.

Silly-Sausage thats because most probably skybox has default rec709 profile. and if you play rec2020 on rec709 profile it will be redish. in deo you can choose color profile in the first top settting.

709 more colors, therefore better; 2020: less colors and lag+++ (reverb + herosphere

SchnuppiLilac Yeah maybe, but i also tried on Pigasus and the contrast and colour were fine, but the framerate was off, i personally think some settings for encoding are a little off - but again, i can only guess.

We are cooking more improvements to the colors!

Manny_S Improvements or changes that aren't needed? I hope the former because the colors are worse now than they were when SLR was using the K2 Pro for originals (if we ignore the color grading experiments that were done early on).

Hairsational without changes there are no improvements.
as you stated the colors are not the best
so for we are trying to improve them
