doublevr Well, there are plenty of good reasons: Some people don't have good internet and must download. Sometimes you want to take some VR porn on the road and you'll need to download in advance. Some people prefer to use downloads over streaming for various reasons (e.g. they stream from their computer, they want faster seek speeds, they want to use the best download quality, they have an issue with streaming (for instance some 8k scenes have very obvious artifacts while streaming for me other 8k scenes are fine, don't know why), etc.).

Anyways, I would really appreciate it as an option.

Sounds good. The truth is no one has that much storage space to store a lot of these huge files. Also if you claim people don’t have fast internet then how on earth are they going to download files this large in the first place. SLR is doing it right making streaming better and better so we don’t have the need to download. As of right now my internet is fast just like most people’s by now and we don’t have any problems streaming.

Future2030 It might be fine for you but "that is like your opinion dude" . My internet is good too but I know that plenty of people have crappy internet and need to wait for hours to download a scene. Also, the storage thing is a non issue if you just download what you actually watch.

If people have slow internet in 2024 then why in the world would they consider downloading large files that takes hours to download. They need to be more worried about getting faster internet. It makes no sense for SLR to release their proprietary Ai Passthrough for download cases. That just opens them up to other companies trying to copy their technology. Their smart streaming it because that preserves their AI technology.

Future2030 There are plenty of places in the us where good internet is not an option. As of the proprietary argument, it's almost certainly just a video mask that is streamed alongside the regular video. It's AI that makes these video masks they need to protect not the download.

If people want to download a video for pass through just tell them to download the video and use CapCut then use the pass through sliders to remove the green screen. There’s no point in SLR providing their proprietary AI Pass through “they worked hard on” for download. All that will do is end up leaked on other sites.

doublevr I travel a lot and I pretty much only use SLR while traveling. Hotel wifi is super hit or miss. Sometimes it's ok, most of the time it's utter crap, and it's never actually fast enough to play full resolution without a lot of pauses. My mobile provider throttles data at 50gb and SLR streaming eats that up in a few days of use. If I happen to be in a place with terrible wifi I can't use SLR streaming at all. PT is by far the best experience, it would be nice to have better offline options.

Future2030 I have fast Internet at home, problem is I only really use SLR during travel and most hotel wifi isn't very good, it's maybe 1 in 4 trips where I get truly good enough wifi. I would much rather download at home and be able to watch while abroad without constant stuttering and pauses.

Future2030 capcut? Really? Downloading users are paying user too you know and I myself have been a paying member for more than 4years now.
Besides why do you care soo much if some people get a feature they enjoy?

Bro I can't have a subscription with downloads I'll go trigger happy trying to get as much as I can before my monthly is over. I agree its good keeping a few files on hand just incase internet goes out, or like right now pornhub is blocked in sum states, it's good to have sum files, but bro hottie addict such as my self would go trigger happy on the downloads, it's time consuming, it gets stressful too cus I go threw my files to find what I want to delete to make room for new vids, plus I'm deleting files I spent time on downloading, I had to buy new hard drives with tb space, filled them up real quick. It's a fucking hassle having download access for someone like me and many others, I'm a huge fan of providing streaming only subscriptions as a nother options and cheaper. Hell I wish vr studios had like a weekly pass, 4.99 streaming only and one download, or 9.99 streaming only 4 downloads a month.

Some sites have like a 1$ one download 3 day streaming trial but it's very limited and you can only purchase the trial one time with same card. Sometimes I'd switch cards to get that 1$ trail but rarely I did that, but shit if it was a pass you could purchase for a 1$ for 3days stream and one download I would purchase that many times just to avoid having full access with unlimited downloads cuz I can go trigger happy on sum downloads.

But SLR stream works great! Skipping threw scenes is fast, I don't know how Playa works anymore but last time i used it...skipping threw scenes was slow, it always loaded for like half a minute trying to skip threw scenes and that 30 seconds in load time is long as fuck trying to watch vr porn. Slr streaming works great imo

Feature parity between streaming and downloaded videos is advantageous to appeal to all your users. Plus it's desirable when building a product, that a feature set is available across multiple uses. This may be easier to implement once PT AI generation becomes automated as been suggested may happen soon.
