There are already model fine tunes that can kinda do 360 projections for images, and there are video model like sora. However, eventhough I think it will be technically possible for big companies to make short (about a minute) and low res (maybe upscaled to 4k?) VR porn videos whitin a year or so (if they really wanted to), I would be very surprised to see anything like that happen even within the next two years.
The biggest issue is that a good video AI base model is VERY expensive and difficult to create which means only a select few are able to do so. The biggest of those, like Open AI and Google will probably never allow creating porn and more importantly will be very unlikely to put any porn in the training data of their closed source models.
This basically means the community or another company needs to get their hands on a good base model that can be fine tuned to porn or which has been trained with porn in the dataset. The latter is pretty unlikely to happen in the short term with all the bullshit about AI safety (cough cough covering your own ass for lawsuits) so the most likely bet the next few years will be an open source model that can be fine tuned similar to how stable diffusion can for images.
If such an open source model, that is also anywhere near the state of art, will be released in the next two years is a hard one to predict. The most likely candidate, Stability AI, has some serious internal problems but will likely release something at least. However, it will probably take them quite a while to catch up to something like sora and even sora is only able to make very short clips that are far too low a resolution for VR porn.
Long story short. My guess would be, relatively short simple porn videos (1080p flat, that are not an uncanny freak show) should probably find their way to us at a very optimistic minimum of a year but more likely two due to companies like open AI gate keeping the best models with their uptight "safety" policies. Before that we will of course see a lot of snippets, a few convincing bits here and there, but nothing like simply prompting away to replace your collection so to speak.
As for VR, especially at 8k and full length? That's a really though one to predict, as it not only depends on technological breakthroughs like video length, resolution, character consistency, etc. (and also porn is just a though cookie for AI to crack). It will also need a big player in the AI field to open source this cutting edge technology and allow people to fine tune it. Also, since this definitely won't be something you can run on your home pc, another company will need to rent a server and fine tune a base model specifically for porn. And since that requires a company they'd have to adhere to the license off the base model. Etc. Etc. In other words, a lot of hurdles along the way. It will happen eventually offcourse, but I'd say don't hold your breath for it to release any time soon.
I'm sure some other cool AI possibilities will open up in the meantime though. Also, video will get it's SDXL moment in the nearish future. That will sure be fun to play around. However, it will likely be very tough to generate actual porn (it's much easier to generate standing nudes that idle for example). Still, exciting times
