I cannot comment on the Pimax, because I don't have it. But I do have both Pico4 and Quest 3, and as much as I hate to promote Zuckerberg's MetaBillionVerse, I like Quest 3 much better, especially for pass through.
But if I were a downloader and not a streamer, I might not like the Quest 3. I find the link feature clunky to use on files on my hard drive. When I want to watch videos from the HD, I use my HP Reverb 2.
I've contemplated a Pimax several times, but their website is confusing, it seems hard to set up, it reminds me of the old Oculus headsets where you had to set up "stations" or whatever those things were -- it was always a pain in the ass to me. Not to mention the cost. Oh, I mentioned it. But heck, if you can afford the Pimax, I guess you could spring for the $500 for the Quest 3.
I also have HP Reverb, Samsung Odyssey, and Rift 3 -- Quest 3 is now my go-to. I still use my HP when I want to watch stuff on my local hard drive, because I don't like the Quest 3 link feature.
