We called it voxels in the day.
I think this is aspirational. None of the stuff out there is ready for prime time.
In my opinion there will have to be real time 2D image segmentation followed by real time mesh generation and texture mapping/3d texture interpolation before this becomes viable.

In my limited opinion, there's some placed 3D object stuff which looks really clunky like old skool gaming, but nothing viable, at least when it comes to people rendering in real world stuff. Coming at it seems easier from the other angle, there's some highly convincing VAM stuff out there, i would assume it's easier to map that to an augmented reality and give it definitive placement, and volume, and all that good stuff...?

I tested out SLR on the Q3 web browser, and it's a solid upgrade! The presentation is more user-friendly for first-time VR users. The pass-through works well with slr alpha pt videos , and the sleeker menu design really stands out. It made me think, "Are they trying to kill the Deo?" Lol, it was impressive
But then i started by checking out trailers, skipping through them to test load times, and it worked pretty smoothly. Then I logged in, watched a scene, and skipped through itβload times were much improved compared to before. Streaming on the Quest browser used to be terrible for a lot of VR sites, but this new version is definitely better. But Deovr stream is better with skipping threw scenes 8k, load time between skips is very small. So deo still dominates there.
However, when I tried an 8K file, the load times during skips were longer. Was it too long? A bit, but it's still an improvement over previous versions.
One suggestion: switch the zoom function to pitch. I noticed while skipping through videos, it would accidentally zoom in or out. Pitch would probably be a better fit.
In terms of streaming, it plays great, but as the file size increases, the load times during skips also increase.
I also noticed the pointer and remote would disappear sometimes, a glitch I guess
Overall, it's a great update for web browser streaming, especially for SLR VR content. It's a huge improvement compared to the first VR streaming menus I used, which were slow, had no settings, and made videos stop to load. Was terrible for first timer presentation
But this is definitely a much better experience for streaming vrp on the browser.
