harigeharry You're absolutely right about the AV1 files on the M2 Vision Pro! Bummer! That said, am I missing something? I downloaded both the "8K Studio Master [HEVC], 52.62 GB" version and the "8K Max Resolution [H.265], 11.46 GB" version of the Melissa Stratton "Melissa In Your Room - HEVC" video as a test, and I can BARELY see any difference in quality. Like, I'm not even completely sure there is any visable difference. I have 2 Gbps up and down fiber and a Deco BE85 mesh system that's all wired together. I also have a Quest 3 that I streamed the video off of the DeoVR app (4000p) that I tested out side by side with the AVP and it's like virtually impossible for me to notice any difference. Like, if there is, nobody's going to notice unless they have them side by side like this. Seriously, what am I missing?! Why would anybody download the 52.62 GB file over the 11.46 GB one? Further, why not just use a Quest 3 since streaming via the DeoVR app is a hundred times better than going through the work of downloading and streaming the video via 4xVR from the computer to the device? Not to mention, the controls and the interactive scripts options using DeoVR. I don't know, maybe I'm doing something wrong?
EDIT: I should add, though, the Apple Vision Pro passthrough is better. If I were to attempt to put as specific a percentage improvement on it as possible, I'd guess 17% - 20% depending on the video. Not sure if that's helpful to anybody, but there it is.
EDIT 2: And I should note that I don't wear glasses, nor do I need them according to my optometrist.
