We have an update: the team seems to have figured out the colour profile to make the image less washed out, we will provide an update soon with this fix. Stay tuned!

I upgraded from a quest pro. The image quality of the AVP is amazing, fov could be improved a little sure, but I’ve never gone back to the old headset. One of the most remarkable differences with the AVP is how good older 6k content looks. There’s not as drastic a drop off in picture clarity on the AVP, just because the resolution is a little lower. And 8k content brings the performers to life. You’ll appreciate the tiny reflections in a teardrop staining the model’s face after she chokes herself swallowing porn cock.

GfLm About the FoV, did you try this: remove the lightseal (the hard material) and then only use that soft rubberish part, between your face and the AVP. Adjust it so it stays in place. Then redo the eye setup. Light will leak in a bit, and you will get a warning about the AVP being too close to your eyes, just ignore it. It's WAY better like that!! And the FoV will be the same as you had before on your Quest!

And yeah the AVP image quality is just mind blowing.

Agathorn Seems that unfortunately you were totally right. DeoVR said the same thing on their blog, they made some comments regarding passthrough:

Viewing passthrough content from DeoVR on the Vision Pro is not possible yet. It simply shows a black background, and the video quality can't be changed from the default of 1920p. This is because Apple does not give access to AR. It can not be enabled, even in the settings. However, as soon as they enable it in an update of the Vision Pro OS, it will be enabled automatically for all DeoVR users - there will be no need to release an update.

Hi guys, we have released an update for player on AVP:

      • Correction of colour space: colour is not washed out anymore, looks more like Quest
      • Change of quality now possible inside immersive mode
      • Bug where you were not able to play video without sound being switched off fixed

Side note: please wait for player to load fully, before clicking anything. Normally it should work without any problem, but sometimes because of this, there light be slight lag.

Please check it out and give your opinion!

Kieshi It's super buggy, a video plays, then doesnt play, most dont play at all. HOWEVER the ones that I managed to play did look really TONS better than before!! If you can iron out the bugs I'd say it's usable for sure, no need to download video's anymore, although I do believe they still look slightly better downloaded. But it's getting really close now. Maybe the colors have a bit too high contrast now or a bit too saturated. But it's WAY better than before.

Also the controls keep popping up, would be way better if you could do it like Moonplayer does, so clicking with thumb and middle finger to show/hide controls and have it hidden until the user clicks his fingers. Or even thumb and index could work, but now the controls just get in the way because you move your eyes

I closed safari and tried it again and now it actually worked better. So now I could compare it better to the downloaded video's First thing is that indeed the colors are now a bit oversaturated and the contrast is too high I think. It becomes very noticeable when you stop the 3d player and it returns to the 2d image, the colors look quite different. However compared to how it was before, it's MUCH better of course!

I also still see some framerate issue's, it's just not as smooth as it should be.

I think though that the main reason for me not to use it is the menu continually popping up. That kind of makes it unusable. So for now, will continue to download and stream via Moonplayer

harigeharry I will pass it on to the team.
By the way, would you be able to make screenshot from downloaded video, so we can compare with what we have and figure out the better color scheme?

Controls popping up you mean that player UI appears while you watch video even though you did not pinch your fingers?

Looking at the above, it actually more seems like it's too dark. However if you see her skin color it's also more brownish in the above so that's what I figured the contrast is also too high. Then again I'm no expert when it comes to colors and contrast. But again, it's MILES better than how it was before (completely washed out). So it's good progress again for sure.

And yes, I mean the player UI appears while I'm not pinching any fingers at all. It seems mostly just looking down that activates it. Which is super annoying.

Just an FYI: I checked with the team today and we have 60% of trailers converted to AVP compatible format. As soon as we are done with trailers - we will be converting old videos 🙂

Hey mrdiscreet918, keep in mind that the AVP is still not a recommended headset to enjoy SLR content due to the fact that each video has to be formatted for the device to support it (check thread here).

We expect to have a dedicated AVP app but until then, we kindly ask for your patience as the team is working hard on making AVP work with all of our content.

Kieshi Trailers? Why bother with those? Are yous trying to get some test conversions in for practice? Since they are smaller size? Why not start with newer videos before old?

[deleted] That's fine, but then don't post stuff like this.
All I'm trying to do is figure out what I can and can't watch given the limitations. Previously in this same thread we're in now I was told that anything above 42998 would be viewable. So if I ask why videos above 42998 aren't in fact working, I shouldn't be met with a "check" that AVP is still in development and I need to be patient. I think all of us on this thread are being patient and are asking you to help us locate the content that can be watched given the limitations.

mrdiscreet918 I think the summary currently is:

                    1) Passthrough doesnt work. Won't work until apple allows it (maybe never)
                    2) While watchable, video quality still suffers if you play directly via the website. The colors are not perfect, there's a frame rate issue and the player itself doesn't work very well. Better just download the video's you like and stream them via either DLNA or a windows share to your AVP with for example Moon player. Quality then simply is the best out there, nothing beats the AVP at this moment (and I think it will take a while before a competitor beats it). It's just crazy good. Personally I crank up the contrast in moonplayer VERY slightly and it looks even better. Your question was related to specific content though, so my 'answer' is not directly directed at you but more to anyone wondering what the current state is of the AVP+SLR.

Let's hope apple announces PT capability tomorrow at the WWDC 2024 conference but I honestly doubt it will ever become available...

silentcoder as you mentioned, they are smaller size and they would need to be converted anyways, so we did them first as it was faster.
