  • "DeoVR.exe has stopped working" when quitting the app

(Using Steam version of DeoVR with SteamVR on Windows 10)

Every time I quit the DeoVR app manually I get the Windows error popup "DeoVR.exe has stopped working"

It's seems silly that the program would crash when I'm trying to close it anyway. But it's also quite annoying because it prevents me from launching another VR app until that error message is closed.

The error also happens when hitting "EXIT GAME" from the SteamVR overlay. However, hitting the "X" in the SteamVR game page (or "STOP" in steam desktop app) does quit the app fully without the error message.

Hey bartosz , can you send us the information such as:

    • what headset are you using?
    • what is the version of the DeoVR app?

And can you also perform a full uninstall of the app and then install it again to see if this would help?

I'm still using an original HTC Vive (old school I know...) so maybe that's why

reinstalling the app did not help

bartosz thanks for sending this additional information, can we try this as well just in case a regular reinstallation didn't help:

        • Uninstall the DeoVR app
        • Press the Windows + R keys on your keyboard and run Regedit.exe.
        • Locate and delete

(You can simply copy and paste one line at a time into the address bar on top of the Registry window to find it more easily)

        HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Deo VR
        HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SLR
        HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SLR VR Application

Then, open a file explorer and delete the DeoVR folder(s) located in these places:

        %appdata%/../Local/
        %appdata%/../LocalLow/
        C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\

Let me know if this helped or if the issue is still there!

bartosz Thank you for letting us know. I'll pass the information forward but for the time being I'd kindly like to ask for your patience on this!

          15 days later

problem doesn't seem to happen anymore in version 13.15

            2 months later

bartosz Thank you for reporting, I'll pass the information forward.

I'm assuming nothing other than the DeoVR version changed in comparison to when you initially reported this issue and that was subsequently resolved?

Hey @bartosz, can you please just confirm for me that nothing apart from the DeoVR version has changed with your setup?

            Thanks!
