Hi guys,

This is not strictly related to SLR but i post here because i think some of you can help me.
I've upgraded my old RIFT S to a QUEST 3 , and overall im satisfied.

My main goal is to be able to watch VR porn and listening to spotify at the same time (dont ask why, i just like it heh). from the same source, so i only need one pair of headphones.
imo there are two ways to achieve this, and this is what i've tried so far.

#1 connect through link/virtual desktop with cable - Horrible experience
i can connect to my pc just fine but for some reason when i open deo vr it stutters like hell and it's pretty unusable.
one thing i noticed different from RIFT S and Quest 3 is that QUEST 3 is opening steam vr also, rift s wasn't opening shit ... i think this can be the problem but can't find how to open DEO VR without opening steam vr.

2# use Quest 3 alone + meta browser with spotify with headphones directly in quest - Disappointment
i thought i did it when i thought of this move but instead i found myself disappointed.
For some reason spotify web inside quest 3 with meta browser sucks, audio quality is shit and audio is stuttering like hell. i thought i was listening to distorted brazilian phonk with extra crunch.

3# use quest 3 speakers for porn audio and spotify on my pc. - Not stealth
i managed to realease but it was and unpleasant sensation knowing that someone can hear me.
i have people living above and under me ... and walls are thin..

please, Help me out , give me new ideas or help me fix what i did wrong in #1 and #2.

thanks 🙂

    garduz

    i use simple plug-in earbuds....they can cost from 20bucks to 100bucks. i use the 20 sony ones

that keeps all the banshee screaming from getting out to the others in the house

i watch a lot of youtube music clips with headset...probably about half the usage

spanker you can watch youtube clips while in deovr looking at porn ? maybe i expressed myself wrong, spotify and deo vr at the same time ( listening to music while watching prn )
      🙂

nope...you probably EXPRESSED correctly....i didn't read it too closely 🙂

so one of the actual experts will NEED to be weighing in here for you on this 🙂

option #1 (Virtual Desktop) should work just fine with DeoVR even without opening SteamVR. There's an option for that in the VD streamer app. But it might work with some GPUs only, not sure. Works with RTX4070 in Win10.
      Also

      • make sure you have HEVC codec installed in Windows so that you play the H265 version of the videos in DeoVR
      • make sure your wifi is 5GHz with sufficient speed (like 600Mbps+) - Virtual Desktop is wifi only so the cable connection didn't really count
      • make sure your GPU isn't maxed out (just check in Task manager while DeoVR plays a video)

czperv123 Thx brother, i solved it in the end , apparently meta is not allowing audio background with multiple apps. i found a guide on how to install apk on quest and allowing audio background 🙂
i'll share the guide if someone else needs it

          garduz what you do is

Log into your Spotify in the quest browser push play let it play, exit out of browser then get your phone and open Spotify and push play, it should play on your quest after u push play, once you got it playing you can use your phone to change music and turning the volume down on your phone it'll turn down on quest. But only the Spotify volume will turn down not the video. Incase you want the volume a Lil lower the video.

I think the apk way u can't turn down the volume.

Other way to watch or listen to music is while watching a video just open browser and use YouTube, sometimes i like watching/listening to
          belle delphine video

But only thing Is listening like this is when u have a video playing on browser you cant skip threw videos or turn the volume down.

That first method you can turn the volume down if you want.

            6 days later

Vrsumo2017 WOW, i was just thinking a way to solve this volume problem and you gave me the answer o.o gonna try that. i was stuck with high volume ehehe 😃 thanks a lot

Vrsumo2017 i've tried the solution you proposed but i'm facing horrible audio stuttering and choppiness,
the problem seems to be meta quest browser audio when going in background to other apps :/ do you have this problem too ?

garduz yeah it does that, it worked great on q2.

But put on blue tooth headphones, it don't do that chopping, it plays perfectly. 👍 and you can turn volume down for Spotify on your phone so you can lower it lower then the video so it's kinda in the background instead of playing full blast, be cool if it had an eq, I'd filterd it out so it sounds like it playing in the next room.

I only use Bluetooth head phones, it might work with wired too. Not sure tho.

But I can confirm it works good with Bluetooth headphones.

              Edit
Bro, you might not even need the phone for volume, I'm controlling Spotify volume on the website through oculus browser. I thinking maybe it works like that cus it connected to my phone as remote, so basically you could hit menu while watching a video and bring up the oculus browser to switch music and mess with volume. Then close it and still plays while you watching a video.

              Edit
Bro maybe they fixed it, cuz I use YouTube, adjust YouTube volume lower then the video I'm watching and I can close the menu and still plays while watching a video. Before it didn't do that, if I closed the oculus menu the YouTube video would stop. Now it just plays in background. Maybe they updated it. 🤔

              Fuck
              Edit again
Welp, maybe they didn't fix it cuz now the YouTube video stops after closing the menu, must of been sum kinda hack, I had Spotify open, remoted to my phone and YouTube open and YouTube would play after closing the menu, I closed everything to try again and now YouTube don't play after closing the menu, must of been sum kinda hack, ima try to do it again.

              But Spotify works good 👍

              Edit
Gotta be a hack, I was playing Spotify and played YouTube video at same time and went back in forth from Spotify n YouTube page and eventually you get the YouTube video to keep playing, sadly my headset died of low battery soon as I gotta to work, but it's a hack.

              But I can confirm
Logging into Spotify on oculus browser, log in play music, adjust volume, close it then open your video player with Bluetooth headphones it works good. 👍

              Edit
Guess they did updated it 🤷‍♂️
So YouTube keeps playing when you have an app open. Example if you have deo open, press menu and open oculus browser, go to YouTube play a video, I think u can adjust volume different from the deo video (it worked for me) press menu to close the browser, if for sum reason it turns off reopen browser and check if it opend up another page cuz it will do that sometimes, just reclick on the YouTube page press play and then close it again with menu button, should still play. 👍

              Fuck, OK last edit
              I found the hack
              In steps
First, open oculus browser, go to YouTube pick your music. Play a video Adjust music volume

Then while the video is playing open deo, at this point the video will turn off but press menu to open menu and open browser again and click on the YouTube page and press play and then close it by clicking menu button again, for some reason it creates another web page and that's why the video stops.

              But this works!

Now I get play this porn music and lower the volume so it's not so loud! 🥂

This is what ChatGPT Meta support has to say about this:

Hey there! We know how important it is for some users to listen to their own tunes as they play, and would love to provide some information.

Currently, listening to music while playing any game you want is not a supported feature. While some users have found ways to make it happen, because it is not a supported feature, it is subject to issues such as the stuttering you are reporting. While we do not have a solution for any unsupported workarounds at the moment, using an external audio source is the best bet. You can use something like your own headphones, and perhaps some kind of aux splitter to combine audio sources and play your games, and listen to your music from the same speakers.

Btw, pros just wear two sets of headphones 🙂

SchnuppiLilac Currently, listening to music while playing any game you want is not a supported feature.

Yeah it is, I just tried it with a game and the YouTube video kept playing.

But you gotta open the browser first before opening any app.

Maybe they updated it recently 🤷‍♂️

Cuz this shit wasn't working like this last time I tried. Unless I found the hack. 🤷‍♂️

But it plays choppy with out Bluetooth headphones. With BT headphones it plays fine.

                    a month later

                    Vrsumo2017 But this works!

Man, did yall ever get this to work, must be the new quest update because it don't work no more like it was. 😒 , can't play YouTube music and watch vrp. 🤦‍♂️
