  • Feedback - Streaming quality (bitrate) for new videos too low!

I did notice that SLR is offering way too small file sizes (bitrate too low) for streaming newly added videos.

With VR Videos its all about bitrate when it comes to good quality.
While i do understand that you try to lower the used streaming bandwith i think you do that way too aggressively forcing us to download videos.

For example you re-encoded an 18gb 8k video down to 4,7gb which will under so circuumstances result in a decent quality specialy with that high resolution!
Acceptable bitrates with good re-encode settings are the following for H265:
8k 35-40 mbit
7k 30-35 mbit
6k 25-30 mbit
5k min 25 mbit
4k min 20 mbit
The exception is for your own SLR Originals Productions which i think has a really good quality even at lower bitrates because the source quality is just soo good! But it just does not work for other studios because their base quality is often already questionable.

So please re-evaluate your strategy for lowering overall bandwith because the route you take right now (lowering dl limits again + way too bad streaming quality) is more anti-consumer than anything else and will for sure not make me personaly stay subscribed for long - which would be a real shame.

And keep in mind - you have competitors which for the most part do that really well.
Thank you.

Bitrate is low, quality is high. We have been over this too many times

doublevr Bitrate is low, quality is high

Maybe true for those that will have 30 Mbit for streaming but not for those with low bitrates to begin with that will be further reduced by 60 % (for example Virtual Real Porn: 50 -> 22 Mbit). Why not do everything in 30 Mbit? But I know, it's not going to change.

NiceDevi There have been multiple threads about this here in the past. To summarize for you: SLR doesnt care that it's too low and won't increase it.

Hairsational Summary: people complain about the bitrate numbers, not about quality. The quality is supperb and there's no change with higher bitrates.

SchnuppiLilac could you suggest the video from vrp that went 50 to 20?

NiceDevi as far as i know anything above 30 mbs is processed to 30 mbs, if bitrate is lower in original video then increasing it wont help.

Manny_S This applies to any VRP video https://www.sexlikereal.com/studios/virtualrealporn?from=autocomplete&sort=most_recent

You can already see that from the file sizes. The latest one with Cherry Kiss is reduced from 13.31 to 5.63 GB.
              https://www.sexlikereal.com/scenes/stretching-time-40098?tab=downloads

Bitrate of original file: 49.96 (see https://www.sexlikereal.com/virtualreality/mosaic/id/40098)
              Streaming file: 21.91

doublevr I don't know about that, this is comparison i posted last year, between 90 and 30 mbps VRHush scene.

There is noticeable difference, i can clearly see it on Quest 3.

Difference is even more noticeable with 8K SLROriginals, especially when there is a lot going around, like threesomes and foursomes.

mirdumar I think it rather proves there's no visible difference in VR unless you are trying hard to find one.

mirdumar And for many studios SLR is doing 8K at around 22 mbps so the loss of detail is even more pronounced than that example
