Soo.. I know that this is probably not the way the content is intended to be used, but because of health related reasons I use the "Spatial Media Metadata Injector" to tell VLC that the video is spherical and it works perfectly fine (Immersion is not even half bad on a decent curved ultrawide screen!)
While the process itself is working for SLR Productions, the additional degrees of FOV is not displayed correctly, so it looks weird. I guess making the videos with standard 180° FOV available is not something SLR would consider doing. So I spent a lot of time looking for a workaround, even played around with injecting metadata into the GSpherical Tag etc., but I think that VLC is just not able to process custom fields of view. So now to my question, does anybody know what I could look into? Another desktop videoplayer thats able to do that?
We know that its possible, the embedded player on the website is able to display the 200° Videos just fine. I´m pretty sure WebXR is used, but I found no way of using that locally (except maybe hosting a website with this player on localhost, idk?)
Again, I know its not the intended use, but I still thought maybe someone can point me in some direction. Thx
