From what i saw so far the current DeoVR AI PT is piece of crap - totally unusable ... Needs tons of work and improvements to become something really usable . Guess if they develop the PC version instead the standalone and use the way more powerful Nvidia and AMD GPUs it could work much better but guess this wont happens any soon ...

    boboweb I don't think it's calculating the passthrough in real time, they have to be rendered and it's most likely done the same way it's done with regular passthrough by the time it's streaming to the headset.

      Why are all the initial passthrough AI video choices so bad? None of these make sense for passthrough.

        parsec Im a bit underwhelmed with the choices as well.. what got me hyped was the original compilation video that @Manny_S posted when announcing the PT AI feature. I'd love to see more of that, minus the handsy male actors, lol.

            Sorry for being off topic - doublevr these plans sound exciting. I am a viewer. I like to collect content and organize it. I have a powerful PC. I can download and edit these huge files and render personal creations. My computer almost crashes sometimes and the fans run super loud. I have 40TB of HDD and SSD storage. It is a pain and it is expensive. I would prefer to be able to do all this online and pay slightly more for this membership. Meaning, It would be nice to collect and organize my SLR scenes on your cloud /platform. It would be nice to edit the content on your online editing program. Mostly just use cut, copy, and paste with editing video. I think we all want to do these types of things and I think if we could, that would be the most fun we could have. We would not feel the need to download as much or at all. Downloading could even be eliminated in the future. If we can shift

                  Just wanted to say new AI PT scenes are incredible as an avid PT user. Didn’t really know what to expect but can tell as the tech and selection becomes better it will get even more immersive. You can even shoot scenes with this AI PT in mind to get the best AI bg removal. Can you also run some of your native PT alpha scenes thru the AI so we can see true PT without male talent? That will be next level imo, the slower BJ scenes without any hands (from male or female talent) was super immersive. Zoomed out mish with the 6DOF was also insanely immersive. Doggy looked good too surprisingly. Just goes to show when you get the doggy angle right PT doggy can be amazing. When can we expect another batch of AI PT scenes will they be scaling to all SLR originals? How will that work can we make suggestions please?

                    Guenthalg I agree with just about everything you said. @doublevr seems to be the one spearheading this project - hopefully he sees your post.

                      The reason AI PT is not great (sorry, but let's be real here) is AI rotoscoping for regular videos is a massive challenge which no one, even large corporations will huge R&D budgets, has yet solved. If SLR were to solve AI rotoscoping for VR then by default they've solved it for 2d video production and honestly that technology might be worth more than their entire VR business. Solve this and every video editor / VFX / post production house would want to license the tech. It would be an astonishing breakthrough. So for those of use wanting the same level of masking as green screen, the likelihood is we'll just have to wait until good AI rotoscoping is actually an option out there in real world post production because currently it's not.
