Unsupported format error for streaming vids

I have have an oculus rift and cannot play any streamed videos. Downloaded videos work fine (sick of downloading LOL), always just say's the files are unsupported for streaming. This problem has been since the fall of 2018, I have tried everything and everywhere forever now to find the answer to the problem and see a lot of other people on here have had the exact same problem but can't seem to find the answer here either. Anyone got an answer?

Philip To tell you the truth I can't remember what all the specs of my Alienware and it's hardware are but they are up to par and it should be running these vids, it used to, one day they just suddenly stopped streaming. Downloads are fine, just streaming don't work. Let me if where to find any info you need and I will go have a look, probably never bothered to look before so don't even know where it would be LMAO

kurtis316 The specs or laptop model would be helpful like runamok mentioned.
Are you using the SLR app? It's a good idea to check the installed codecs in any case. Recommended are HEVC and K-Lite or LAV filters.
