doublevr how can you say "we want to make our users happy" and call them "data hoarders" in the same sentence?? you do realize there are other headsets other than quest right? who wants to stream with a high end pc and high end pcvr headset?? no one in their right mind. It's always gonna look better played directly from a file. How the hell do you set up a vr porn site and then turn around act like the customers are the enemy for using it as its set up by YOUR COMPANY. If you want to blame anyone for the bandwith or network issues , maybe dont let 4000 different studios run on the same platform lol It's not our fault you let any shitty studio with a vr camera host here. I'm seriously so glad i decided to cancel my sub after being here the last 4 years. You guys are like the disney of vr porn the way you act towards the source of your income. "evolve or else" ? Who threatens their customers for using a service they pay for ???? Compared to other sites you guys are a very inconsistent hot mess and you don't even realize it...Calling your source of income "stupid" when you don't even understand that a vr video looks better played off your computer than streamed over a server. that's priceless.... well i guess not priceless for the people smart enough to know the difference between direct play and streamed. Subs say they'll quit and you say "deal" lmao...ive never in my life seen a company with such childish and unprofessional customer relations. You do you realize ALL your videos are available for FREE with NO DOWNLOAD LIMITS on the internet.??? most on the same day you release them. We pay for your service not because we have to, but out of respect and support so you can grow . the way you act towards us is completely ridiculous. what a fucking business model .....bragging about having the most videos but getting upset and disrespectful if paying customers download too many of them lmao it's gonna be hilarious when you push away more loyal customers with your nonsense.
Upcoming price and download limit change
Doublevr is definitely not into demagoguery lol; Well, everyone has their own way of expressing themselves and it’s not necessarily pleasant; but what seems important to me is is slr worth it: I say yes, even though I never do streaming and only downloads; but it is true that I am also a lifetime subscriber to wankz, virtualtaboo, vrporn and that I subscribe for a month from time to time to czech and naughty américa: and I download and download but overall not that much because I limit to a few hard drives (to limit greed lol!)
sylvan He's probably not the customer-facing type. But he's definitely sold me on never buying a lifetime membership for now with all the changes that are never for the better. The human-generated scripts were the differentiator for me, but now that scripts are increasingly restricted to streaming, and increasingly AI-generated, that selling point is diminishing.

serendipitis The human-generated scripts were the differentiator for me, but now that scripts are increasingly restricted to streaming, and increasingly AI-generated, that selling point is diminishing.
Exactly this. The quality of SLRO used to be top notch, now it is greatly diminished and majority PT nonsense (another place where they just said, "We're doing it, get over it"). Ditto scripts - they say "no changes because of AI" but then they release scripts for stuff that already has human scripts, while the frequency and quality of human-created scripts has greatly decreased as well. Not much reason to sub any more. The rude behavior is just icing on the cake.
mueslee So I ask again: What do LT get in return for paying way more on their LT subscription?
Permanent access to the site.
Only take 4 1/3 years for the Lifetime sub to cost less per year than the annual sub. Over 10 years that goes down to less than half the price per year. And so on.

justsomedude101 If the current trend of better studios leaving SLR (and pulling their content) continues then there may be nothing left but SLR Originals and sandbox-tier content

Well, RealityLovers and SwallowBay are the only ones I can think of that you might be referring to, unless you're just being hyperbolic.
Meanwhile we've picked up VRSpy, VRMassaged, PornCornVR, VRPlayful, and quite a few others within the past 6 months alone, many of which have been enormously popular, so

VR Bangers, VR Conk, Dezyred, VRB Gay, VRB Trans, EvilEyeVR. I'm sure I'm missing some more.
justsomedude101 Meanwhile we've picked up VRSpy, VRMassaged, PornCornVR, VRPlayful, and quite a few others within the past 6 months alone, many of which have been enormously popular, so
VRSpy: Another label for Alex Nash who already produces for SLR
VRMassaged: Another label for the same producer behind VRedging and VRsolos
PornCornVR: Another label for RealJamVR. Same company, same producers.
VRPlayful is the only new producer on that list as far as I'm aware and they have released just 4 scenes over a period of 6-7 months. As for new studios not on your list, they are all either new labels for existing producers on SLR (e.g. All Anal VR) or not "enormously popular".
Hairsational VR Bangers, VR Conk, Dezyred, VRB Gay, VRB Trans
Also all labels from the same producer...and they left well over a year ago. Not sure why you didn't mention that when you seem to dislike new studios from existing producers. Oh well.
You sound unhappy with the selection we have and the numerous new studios we've picked up, and tbh that's not really something i have the time or desire to try to change your mind on. We have plenty of new & existing users who appreciate them, which is pretty obvious from the response they've gotten. Sorry you're not a fan of them.

Obviously
justsomedude101 and they left well over a year ago
The fact that it was over a year ago is not relevant. They were a top creator on this platform they they left.

I like most of those new studios you listed. Nowhere did I even imply anything to the contrary.
The point you are missing is that it's the same production crews just under a different name. They produce the same volume of content across the studios. Subscribers are not getting extra content just because there is a new studio listed.

I think your estimate is great. I have a complete different calculation is my head with heresphere and XBVR (not going back to DeoVR ever) but it evens up after 4-5 years.
So I'm not complaining about the deal regarding LT vs monthly.
I'm specifically complain about getting a kick in the balls for risking more money early. "Permanent access to the site" is true for new and old LT subscribers.
You often name new features "fair usage" and so on. Where is the fair deal here to be had?
justsomedude101 not worth wasting time.
Baby steps for me. At least I'm not writing paragraphs any more
justsomedude101 Drinking a little less kool-aid will help
Wild idea for a fair download limit system, which rewards loyalty and deters abuse - the longer you sub, the more you can download per month. So if you're brand new, you get say 10 downloads, but in the second month it goes up to 20, then 30, and so on, until the maximum is reached after maybe 6 months. If you leave then return, your download limit resets.
vrpicasso which rewards loyalty and deters abuse - the longer you sub, the more you can download per month
First of all, I think you shouldn't support the notion of paying subscribers abusing the site when using it in perfect compliance with the agreed conditions. Considering that the SLR download limits are already significantly lower than what competitors are allowing, it is not abuse to download within those limits.
Secondly, what was called 'misuse' is enabled by the fact that there are two ways of subscribing for just one month: A more expensive way that ends after 30 days or a cheaper one that can be cancelled by the subscriber before it renews for a second month. If you are offering the same thing for two different prices, don't blame the users for being smart. Blame yourself for even offering this option.
Thirdly, a monthly loyalty reward system doesn't make sense in an annual subscription since you have already signed up for an entire year. It would only make sense for the monthly recurring subscription. But why would you want to drive away the monthly subscriber segment (that has already decided against going annual at the price of a higher monthly rate) by further devaluating their subscriptions?
Moreover, loyal customers are not necessarily better customers. Some lifetime subscribers may think they own the place after having made their (admittedly substantial) one-time payment, while in the long run the money sustaining the business is coming from the not-so-smart people like myself repeatedly renewing their annual subscriptions.
I think the real reason behind SLR going against downloads is that it is a way to significantly reduce costs on their end. It was mentioned earlier that people may actually watch on average only like 20 % of a porn scene. For Netflix and the like, it makes no difference if you stream or download for offline use since their content is usually being watched from start to finish. But with porn scenes, 80 % of the downloaded data may go to the bin unwatched. And probably third party content providers will get the full payout for a downloaded scene while streaming payout is based on actual watch time. But as long as I am not a shareholder or on SLR's payroll, this is none of my concern and I will not accept being called names or demonized for my preference of downloading some scenes at the highest available quality before watching them.
The way forward clearly needs to be making subscribers stream voluntarily instead of dictating how to watch:
- Streaming-only features with benefits like AI PT will for sure shift the ratio towards streaming
- Rethink the logic behind bit rate/quality reduction for streaming files. I get it that 30 Mbps is the upper limit but why on earth is it necessary to reduce 50 Mbps scenes to 20 Mbps? Just reduce them to 30 Mbps like all the other scenes and I might stream some of them instead of downloading. Can't be that hard to change the workflow.
- Since the plan seems to be charging extra for additional downloads, think again what could be a reasonable price. 20 bucks for 50 downloads as indicated earlier? Come on! Your own market price for 50 downloads is like $5. If it's any higher than that, it would be cheaper to get a second SLR subscription to get more downloads, which would be as ridiculous as it sounds. But more likely, frequent downloaders would just get their second subscription from one of the competitors that offers even more downloads + exclusive content. So if you want to generate any revenue for SLR from additive download packages, the price needs to be clearly below $5 for 50.

doublevr We are considering introducing lower price tiers for new subscribers.
It will come with
-50% downloads limit for monthly plan.
-30% for monthly non-recurring
-25% for annual
-15% for LT.
We are still checking on the actual limit numbers to make sure we find a golden ratio and keep everyone happyAll the active subs will keep their current limits intact.
There will be upgrade option for each plan. There will be an option to buy extra downloads.
Main problem comes from users misusing recurring monthly sub instead of going non-recurring monthly.
Perfectly we want to separate streaming and data hoarding users
