I have a Quest 2 , I was thinking of buying a Quest 3 only to watch Porn , should I hold on to my Quest 2 or go out and buy the Quest 3 is there a big leap when watching VR Porn on the Quest 3 ?

quest 3 if you only want experience passthrough porn in color...
but dont expect big cause the passthrough is not rly nice and depends very much on light in your room.
passthrough is similar to pico 4 but some better and with depth sensors also 3d which is very usefull and can give you much more Immersion
i think quest 2 still is better for porn but just not for passthrough experience...
so if you dont rly into passthrough then its dont worth to buy quest 3.

Redhulk50 I was in the same situation (Q2, only for porn). I had seen quite a few people here posting that in terms of video quality Q3 is only a minimal leap and on my first day I was underwhelmed as well. However, after like two days of usage I changed my mind and came to the conclusion that the leap is big enough for me and now I am really happy that I got a Q3. In contrast to graphical elements which look much sharper than on Q2 I think videos as such do not look significantly better/sharper but somehow the optics of the device are better, which is probably due to the improved lenses and slightly increased FOV.
I don't agree with the statement in the previous post that Q2 is better for porn than Q3 (and I have no clue why it should be).
it depends on everyone experience and its different from human to human...someone have problem with eyes and so on....
for someone quest 2 still better and dont rly worth an upgrade just for porn and the quality is not rly that big difference.
only if someone want experience porn in passthrough with color then yes quest 3 worth a try...
i had a quest 2 and have pico 4 and i still think that quest 2 is good for porn and enough for that purpose and even the grey passthrough is not so bad and useable...
i would recommend just to go to shop and try quest 3 and you will then know if its worth or dont worth an upgrade.
Agree the graphics upgrade is worth it.
I'm no expert, but Quest 3 still has major battery issues, and the BoboVR strap cannot help much with that right now. With the Quest 2 and batteries, you can view forever. Until the battery issue is resolved, I'd stick with Quest 2. The Quest 2 is also much cheaper, so for a new buyer I would not spend extra for Quest 3 which is only going to be useable for limited time periods (usually an hour or maybe two if you're lucky).
I'm keeping Q2 until at least a price drop. I don't really care about passthru plus there seem to be some QC issues that need to be ironed out for Q3.
Ill say even if the image quality isnt a huge improvement, the lenses are worth the upgrade if you have the cash. Frankly the quest 2 lenses always made my eyes feel weird, with the 3 no longer the case.
Niteflyte While battery life certainly hasn't improved I wouldn't say the difference is that major. Considering that I have increased the display brightness on Q3 compared to what I had on Q2, I find the slight reduction acceptable for how I am using it. Q3 has 120 Hz turned on by default which is using a lot of power, so I have turned it off. With 120 Hz turned on on Q2, I had the same reduced battery life.
having just upgraded from the Q2 i would say that colour passthrough is GOING to make a Q3 worth the upgrade, but immediatly right now they dont have enough content that truly works in passthrough, which imo is more along the lines of pole dancing, stripping and JOI vids as for me the position changes in sex scenes ruin the experience as you have to move around with all the equipment hooked upto you, its just a huge pain and not worth the hassle, for me its scenes where the position doesnt change that will thrive, wether sitting on a chair or lying down,
i would genuinly say maybe hold off until that kind of content is being made for passthrough as having taken the plunge i am now waiting for that content and who knows how long that will take to get made, we could have the Q4 by then
the lenses are certainly better but just for normal VR porn my opinion is its not a huge leap, its an OK leap but not worth multiple hundreds of pounds/dollars,
but colour passthrough WILL make it worth it when the right content for it gets made, really looking forward to that as its pretty mind blowing having your fave pornstars in your bedroom with you

I got my Meta Quest 3 today. I had been using a Meta Quest 2 for two years. My biggest fear is that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference in clarity. The 3 is amazing. There is a difference. For example I watched a 7K Melanie Marie video. Her freckles come in like you are in front of her. The 7K and 8K videos are where its at with the 3. No regrets upgrading. I guess it will only get better.

Is 128gb enough or people simply use some local server to serve files from their computer?
Is there any downside of streaming on local network vs transferring the video in headset, any difference in quality of highest 8k or 10k videos?
eyecandyboobs a local server/NAS is the way to go, so stick with the cheaper 128Gb Q3 and invest in hard drives to hold content. Depending on your other hardware (router, network speed, close wifi access point etc) using Pigasus and/or Skybox to view 8K videos is fine. This includes SLR's 190 or 200 fisheye
I found high bitrate videos (over 60Mb/sec) can cause some stuttering on my older NAS system, but I don't have WiFi 6E and the router is in another room.
