SchnuppiLilac This girl is from a proper VR video, right?
No, that's me recording pov with a hottie with quest 3...
Lol I wish, yeah it's from a vrp video.

SchnuppiLilac Humm, might have to wait till vision pro debuts to pov record
Vrsumo2017 Man, you know mofos gonna be using the quest 3 like that for real, I'm sure they did already.
She's definitely considering it
SchnuppiLilac yea no chance at all PT video from camera will be usable. Its good but not good enough, the perfect solution is to live-view from a VR camera that is recording proper VR footage. I hear CALF has streaming options that you can monitor from your VR headset, so that would be the move. There was some guy on facebook a while ago who had supposedly come up with a solution to live monitor in 3D your canon VR system but he never actually released his notes or work, still waiting on that. I have actually done something similar to this using an pair of NREAL AR glassed in 2D, I was monitoring my canon VR camera in flat 2D while wearing the glasses. It was pretty dope but I want to use a VR headset for full stereo monitoring and also overlapping 2D content like on this gif, but I will have to wait until I can do something like this with the canon system because Im not buying another camera just for this haha
I'm on my second quest 3 now. Had to return the first one because of dead pixels on the right eye, on the top portion of the sweet spot. So far this second headset has no visible dead pixels. Will continue testing until my return window expires. I've heard on reddit some dude has gone through 7 before he got a fully functional one without issues.
metichemsi I think mine might have a dead pixel as well. But so far, I was only able to notice it in one single video. If it stays that way, I can live with it.
SchnuppiLilac What color is it? Mine was completely dead so it was black and then I could see either chromatic aberration around it in white scenes with blue and green on each side. A lot of people seem to have stuck pixels also, which are stuck in one of the 3 subpixel colors like red or green. My ocd could no longer ignore it, specially since I had it for less than a week and was well within the return window so I just did a quick store exchange and this one seems to be good so far. If I was outside of the return window with no warranty or facing an RMA with Meta I might ignore it also just to avoid all of that hassle.
metichemsi Just tried to find out and then noticed that I can drag around what I thought was a dead pixel. Checked the video also in Q2 and the spot is indeed part of the video. So I guess I was lucky.
SchnuppiLilac Nice! Glad to hear that! I have TV's older than 15 years and some electronic devices much older than that and no dead pixels on them, so I'm hoping that as long as nothing is already broken it should stay that way with proper care and some luck lol
SchnuppiLilac
I'm not doing anything special to make it work. I don't even pay for Plex's service. I just opened a DLNA using Plex Media, so that I can access the videos that I have stored in my SSD. I don't have Oculus Link turned ON in case you were wondering, and I don't think you need it. At that point, whatever video I choose to watch while inside the DEOVR app, I just turn on Passthrough. It's like watching any regular streamed video that comes from SexLikeReal, but the only difference, is that I'm watching it from the DLNA.
milky97 That's not "alpha passthrough"
From the release notes of the current DeoVR RC: Alpha packing is now available for all DLNA videos.
Not sure what alpha 'packing' means, but I guess the DLNA issue with alpha PT has been fixed in that release.
So, after reading this thread, it seems to me that the bottom line is that Quest 3 is overall a better experience compared to Quest 2 but not worth the upgrade if I already own a Pico 4. Or is there some reason why I should get the Quest 3? I'm tempted but afraid of disappointment.
From various comments I assume that the video performance of Quest 3 isn't any better than Pico 4 (no 12K despite newer chip) and the PT and FOV improvements are minor. On the other hand, Quest 3 has more noticeable screen door effect, which sounds really bad since I find the SDE pretty bad on Pico 4 already.
I don't care about standalone gaming or the whole ecosystem. If I did, I'd get rid of Pico 4 immediately. The Pico store is just weird. Full of creepy Chinese and Russian videos.
SchnuppiLilac better question yet, what the hell is DeoVR RC???
quest 3 not rly worth right now...
i see only 2 reason where it would be worth at this moment:
but yes its overall better than old quest 2...
if you own a pico 4 then its not rly worth an upgrade but only for the 2 reasons above and if you interested in that stuff much.
the most interested stuff which i noticed on pico 4 and quest 3 is that porn in passthrough looks more detailed...idk how why that is but its much cleaner and better looking than just to watch normal vr porn.
maybe its some eye placebo because the passthrough cameras itself are not rly nice and that why vr stuff looks in passthrough so much better ?
but there clearly some quality difference between just vr porn compared to porn in passthrough.
SchnuppiLilac Ahhh ok, thank you for sharing! Makes perfect sense, at this point the general release might only be a few days away anyways but I will still test this out since it should also support alpha which will be nice on DLNA
czperv123 I got a pico 4 but I'm still upgrading, in pico 4 my real environment looks a lil bigger then normal, q3 looks accurate, also idk if its my pico 4 but maybe it never got that pass through upgrade cuz it looks grainy, like my white walls look gray and from what I'm seeing q3 pass through looks better then my pico 4.
Soon as I can I'm upgrading to the q3
metichemsi SchnuppiLilac better question yet, what the hell is DeoVR RC???
metichemsi - I always liked to think 'RC' stood for 'Realcumber'
Here are my personal opinions on the biggest improvements on quest 3 after some good testing:
1qisawesome better with updates
VirtualDesktop is a mandatory purchase. Recent update have enhanced the device. It's now 'mostly stable'.
Quest 4 requires OLEDs and a glare coating.
