Hello, I pulled the trigger on the quest 3, never used a meta headset before . I just wanted to know the step-by-step guide to achieve the best experience. I have original quality scenes downloaded on PC. Can I transfer the files I want to play and then simply transfer them back to the PC? Any links to a guide already made or any advice on playing these original files on Quest 3 would be greatly appreciated.
Quest 3 Best Setup
There are quite a lot of ways to watch videos on the quest 3 all with their pro's and cons.
Native with streaming (easiest)
Native with downloaded files (maybe for travel or something but a major pain if you have more than a few videos if you ask me)
Virtual desktop with downloaded files (best quality if you have a very beefy PC)
Virtual desktop with streaming
Etc.
Personally I use Native with streaming for passthrough and Virtual desktop with downloaded files for everything else. As passthrough is not possible atm with Virtual desktop and PC vr + downloads is the absolute best quality. For the latter you need a beefy PC though. If you don't have this it's probably more convenient and better quality to use the native solution.
Do you need a meta quest link to do the Virtual desktop with downloaded files?
i have virtual desktop but the videos are playing half transparent and through steam vr for some reason
ive tried just streaming from slr site but the videas are really bad quality capped at 1920 with no passthrough
nvm im a retard i had vr passthrough ticked at the bottom of virtual desktop
If you have any problems with the above method, just use Quest version of DeoVR, connect your headset to your PC with DNLA and stream downloaded files directly from your PC. This way you're getting original quality media, but no headset storage issues and the Q3 can handle 8k playback. Virtual desktop is cool but you don't need it, the Q3 handles 8k content as well as a high end PC. Once you've got used to this, look into Heresphere and XBVR, which will enhance your offline experience further. Then buy a Handy

I tried Heresphere with virtual desktop and Steam VR and the quality was instantly better along with the fps. I don't know if changing the codec to HEVC 10-bit was the reason or the player.
Is there a guide on using DNLA or XBVR with Heresphere. Like a guide for retards like me lol.
Matt12345 better than what, Heresphere native app on Quest? I need to do a side by side comparison but in theory the native Quest version should be best as the data is not being compressed.
I have no idea how I set up XBVR. It's one of those things that you do once then hopefully never again I probably read through discord threads.
vrpicasso yeah, but if you have a good pc a lot of videos look better to much better with virtual desktop (probably due to the super sampling and the much better pc vr heresphere sharpening algorithm but I'm not sure). I've tested this a lot with heresphere quest and pc and the difference can really be huge.
This is why I prefer virtual desktop over native quest even though I have a server hosting everything over the heresphere api that streams at the native resolution. I've noticed the same thing with deovr but use that app mainly for passthrough.
fenderwq you mean use desktop hersphere to play download files and then use VD to connect quest3?
