Let's discuss passthrough (not a yay or nay thread)
Tried the VAM passthrough thing for a bit out of curiosity and although it's fun it's also nowhere near the level that I would jerk of to it fidelity wise (and I have a 4090).
It's fun to move the models around and all but it's still a major pain in the ass to set up something other than just a basic pose. Really not worth it imo. Not trying to hate or anything, just wanted to add that I think this thing will be pretty sick in 6/12 years.
You know, with graphics that are actually lifelike in VR and most importantly a girl that is controlled by AI not by hours of setup. Having a few of your favourite girls walk around in your house AI controlled, do whatever you can think off. It's gonna be a strange but fun future.
BTW, I had a 50w garden/construction led light laying around. It's like the equivalent of 5 ceiling lights. I turned it on at night and the passthrough is much better that way. Similar as during a sunny day I would say. These lights are only 15 bucks if you don't have one

If you look at the comments in aggregate it would suggest the primary issue to overcome is something like this:
A dude is ready to whack off--starts the video gets everything lined up to his physical space & gets going with the set of sexual actions filmed at a particular camera angle and point. Everything more or less works fine until the point that the camera is moved. At that point:
The dude in real space has to move to match the camera change. E.g.: he has to stand up if sitting or lay down (if there's a bed in his space), etc. This includes, of course, moving his tissue, towel, lube, toys or whatever.
He has to readjust a bunch of settings on the video app. Certainly: Tilt, likely Zoom, sadly sometimes Rotation, maybe even Horizontal overlap to adjust scale, etc.
Rinse and repeat every time camera is moved (includes camera angle adjustments).
I know SLR knows this because you've talked about providing automated adjustments within AR videos. However, I don't think that will really work because too many of the adjustments are individuated to the particulars of the various viewers and their physical space (IPD, torso length, height etc.).
Rather I think they need to provide the ability for the user to save custom adjustments for each of the different 'sections' within an AR (passthrough) video. A section being a set of sexual actions in which the camera hasn't moved (e.g.: sitting BJ, sitting cowgirl, sitting reverse cowgirl).
Best practice for AR is of course to limit the amount of camera moves/adjustments in any particular video.
Best practice # 2 is for AR you absolutely cannot get away with putting the camera somewhere where a human head can't reach--like halfway down the torso. Recently, in one of the BETTER NEW AR videos they put the camera for a seated fuck where only a dwarf could possibly put his head. There was no way to line that up. The male model was laying down and they put the camera halfway up the torso in space.

100%. Saving settings that automatically switch with the video is essential. But I still think they should already have guideline parameters set for each video as it switches and then you can adjust a bit and then save. Having to do it ALL by scratch is intensitlvey time consuming and very very few people are going to spend the time to do it. So I think hire someone to map these out roughly and have each section "Set" to a "optimal" level and then each indidivudal can adjust it to their personal space/area. It's a LOT less work than having to manually do it for each angle/section even if you can save it. Needs to be much easier.
Hurto11 - Have you guys tried lining up the camera quickly and easily with just the 'grip' method?

Go to Settings -> Controller -> Under the GLOBAL tab -> Re-map the 'RECENTER' button to 'Primary Thumbstick center' or any preferred button that you don't already often use
(Make sure you click the green check mark to confirm and override any previous mapped button)
Now once the native passthrough video plays, just click and hold your center thumbstick button -> then just move your head to drag the scene to line up with your cock, and release the button -> perfect alignment quick and easy everytime!
RealcumberScripts yeah, I have, but your are still aligning A LOT of the time. It's worth it but I think fewer positions and positions where the camera is perfectly positioned are needed to make it more immersive and less of a hassle. So you can just enjoy the movie.
Also frequently switching from laying on a bed to the couch, to standing, to whatever is a lot of effort especially with a handy. I think eventually the format will find ways around this but at the moment we need to shoot a little differently for passthrough imo.

I think AR videos are the future and can be incredibly compelling. However it is also true that when it fails it fails much worse than VR. Nothing pops you out of the moment like a girl you had convinced yourself was on your lap suddenly hanging above you at a 35 degree angle staring at a floating penis an arm length away from your knee.

I can't see it ever becoming more popular than VR with all the additional fiddling that is required on top of what is needed for VR.
Hairsational I think that is not very forward thinking, unless you mean the near future with "ever". Just imagine what will be possible in the future with light fields, AI, increased processing power, etc.
At some point you won't have to fiddle at all. Hell, maybe we won't even use the conventional video format in 5 years but something more interactive. Where you can decide if you have your own body in VR or AR, switch between AR and VR or a mix and match elements, interact with the girl in some capacity, the player understanding your surroundings and doing smart things with shadows and occlusion, etc.
Now, I agree that I don't see AR completely replace VR and definitely not short term (they fill a slightly different need after all). I do think the lines between AR and VR will blur more and more moving in the future. We won't get there right away but it will get more and more fun as we move along. As for this moment, I'm already very excited about what it brings to the table though.
