  • [Android/Daydream] Video not starting in Daydream/Cardbox Videos anymore(?!)

Hi,

i know Google officially discontinued Daydream VR. But I still have an old Pixel 2 with working Dydream, which I use to access SLR. Or so I thought. The disappointment was big when I discovered the Daydream / Split View isn't working on this site.

The button that is used to start it does something, but it doesn't start a split-view VR video. It seems like it just changes the offset of the video.

Is this a bug or did SLR decide to not support Daydream anymore? And even if there is not support more for Android why did the behavior of the button change?

At the moment, my only option is to download the video. Start a Plex server on my computer and watch it using the Skybox App. Quite inconvenient and a big hassle if you just want to enjoy yourself.

Is there another solution to how I can access the videos directly from my phone? Did you ever consider supporting the Playa App, for instance?

They seem to have dropped smartphone VR a few weeks back. You're not the only one getting caught out by this

doublevr Oh, of course. It's not top priority, in my case, due to Starfield and Phantom Liberty. I did get a VRPorn subscription, though, since they don't seem to have this issue. A while back you were saying this will get fixed, now you blatantly say it's getting dropped
The one thing that gave SLR an edge were the JAV videos, but quite a lot of them aren't optimized, to the point of being broken and unenjoyable.
I guess you don't realize that it's the cheapest means of watching VR, and it does the trick for quite a few people. Suddey being asked to shell out a cool few extra hundreds for a feature that I've already paid for is bad business practice. I'm relatively lucky, it seems some people literally paid yearly subscriptions only to get caught out by this

    So far if you can find the old SLR cardboard APK it works well for me, even with scripts! Which is wild.

    Only issue for 180degree vids they play as a fisheye when streamed. No way to adjust, but you can download and play locally. Local playback has menu options to adjust the view to make it work. Also if your phone is not fully centered it sometimes drifts off to the right.

    Please SLR, even though you don't support the Android app anymore, please do not disable it, i just renewed on the annual plan and it works well on my Pixel 6. I still use my Google Cardboard heatset, just had to manually adjust the sizing in the cardboard settings.

    Sadly cannot find a DEOVR cardboard APK, so can't use any other VR services lol

    @doublevr You should do it like the phone companies: Offer a Q2 for 1 buck along with the long-term subscriptions and get the rest of the money back via the monthly rates. 500-1500 bucks every two years for a dick pic text message distribution device? Say no more and take my money 😃
