Great to see some new cameras coming to the market and the whole thing getting live again.

The guy managed 3D printed RF to Z converter to get the Canon Dual Fisheye on Nikon Z8! Downsampled from SuperResd 16K DNG image sequences:

Also worth checking https://forum.sexlikereal.com/d/2928-slr-originals-is-getting-back-to-8k-canon-production/

didn't REALIZE there was a website and all that other non sex type of content

is it accessible on the headset and streamable? or NEED to download and upload to headset?

there are a FEW CALF vr samples on youtube...with girl making dancing clips

I'm not really familiar with the specifics of the different systems. What are the advantages in switching to new 8K cameras compared to the current 8k setup?

Whatever happened to releasing more info about the canon mod? Biggest news in VR as of lately and it seems to have been swept under the rug?

      Fapmaster17 good point.

Keep in mind there's a huge gap between paper specs and putting camera to work on the set and post production pipeline. 8K comes in different taste and flavor with every new camera hitting the market. Non-8K part makes day and night difference.

I personally miss VuzeXR stepping out the market some years ago. 8K version of Vuze would bring many indy creators into VR for sure.

      Will stay tuned for more

@doublevr The CALF camera seems very crisp compared to the canon but has slightly inferior dynamic range. Furthermore, editing Canon 8k 60fps is very painful (CALF is way better here).

Also check out the FM Duo it's supposed to be the best of the best.
I really like the image quality of the Zcam K2 pro with the izugar lens too.

I would also recommend trying dual camera setups with red, blackmagic or other cinema cameras (at least 4k per eye stitched to make it 8k).

I believe Czech VR is using a dual camera setup rigged to have a higher IPD (around 63-70mm). The dual camera setups are super-customizable and is technically future proof (wouldn't have to rely on the VR camera market).

doublevr and it looks no good

This is a bold statement in absence of any further explanation. Sure, 12K was a marketing stunt but since this video VRB has reached another level, at least in some videos since then. Not necessarily in the center of the action (which is still great but no quantum leap) but especially in the background or when there are plants/foliage in the picture. They can film in a room and the entire room looks razor-sharp. They can film outdoors in a garden without any loss of quality. I have no idea how they do it, but 'it looks no good'? Strongly disagree.

The screenshots don't capture it, but just look at the city in the far back and the plants in those videos. I almost came when I saw this the first time.

100% agree with you, VRBangers has the best picture quality at the moment.
They even manage to pull off the challenging conditions of outdoor scenes: Exposure, focus, compression, everything is outstanding.

Whatever setup & post-processing pipeline they are using, is the way to go!

Fapmaster17 FMDUO is at the top of the VR ecosystem right now, also in price by far, which is not something attainable for ordinary users like some of us. I am a huge fan of VRBangers content and production, I still dont like their 12K marketing stunt because it's a bone none of us can even really chew on right now, but it's still cool as hell and I did enjoy watching some 12k screenshots. The camera itself, at least in the way VRBangers has been shooting does have bad color grading. I dont know if its the codec or the color grading they are doing in post production, but someone needs to dial down the saturation about 15% on most of their newer scenes. Other than that, the sharpness is absolutely incredible, when they nail the perfect focus distance everything looks great, some scenes do seem to have the focus pulled a little too close and sometimes the further objects start to look a little out of focus. I love my canon 8K camera and even though the IPD is slightly smaller, it also gives on hell of an image when you expose and focus correctly. Everybody seems to always complain about the focusing on some 8k scenes, but I dont know how many people actually own the system and have shot with it, even with the canon system, its very easy to misjudge your focus, specially when moving from one location to the next or simply moving the camera around.

            Hairsational

I don't know when they switched up their cameras, but the most recent scenes are amazing.

Look at this screenshot from Blake Blossom's recent Papaya scene:

The clarity and sharpness is on point. You can spot individual hairs, or minor imperfections of her makeup, and at the same time have the background stays clear and visible all the way to distant buildings. That really immerses me on a whole new level.
(Please note that through the screenshot and compression, there is a lack of quality on the images. It looks much better viewed on a VR headset)

I do agree that the saturation should be toned down, but at least their white balance is on point.

@doublevr If it's really the FMDuo with 8K60FPS, I am not sure why SLR wouldn't give it a try. Maybe they can loan you guys a device for a test shoot?

              doublevr

I see why the price is an issue, and your team only has that much time to dedicate on this.
But I would be cautious to dismiss it as barely an improvement if you haven‘t tried it.
You guys have the best casting in VR, and produce so much great content that it would be a shame if in the end the technical quality is not up to your otherwise very high standards!

Maybe you can reach out to someone from VRBangers, or other studios and talk to them about their technical setup/pipeline?
Doesn‘t cost anything and might help SLR make a more informed purchasing decision in the future! 😊

Fapmaster17 Yes, this was a much improved skin, my only gripe with them at first were their colors but this one def looks a lot better from a color standpoint.

doublevr Splitting hairs here at this point, I'm in agreement with you, taking the price and post production into consideration, I would also go your route. I would much rather have your production team pump out way more content at a faster pace due to a faster workflow than see a minimal bump in visual quality for a $20k system.

Fapmaster17 They also only release 1 scene a week, which is a little annoying. I often wait months to resub to them because of this, if not longer because they may not release scenes I actually want for weeks at a time, while SLR pumps out way more content and more frequently and the way their casting has been lately, I am way more likely to want to consume every one of their releases, at least much more often than the VRB releases, their casting is sometimes a little disappointing. That's also not to mention that they split their main content between 2 different sites and subscriptions, no real value there.
