[deleted] what does two screen mean?
Quest 3 announced
justsomedude101
Found this on meta.com under 'Dazzling graphics': You can also see more with an increased field of view (104° horizontal/96° vertical) that extends your peripheral vision within virtual worlds.
So that is suggesting:
Q3: visible FOV of 104 and a rendered FOV of 110 degrees (Q2: visible FOV of 97 and rendered FOV of 104)

Delve deeper with lifelike experiences – thanks to 4K+ Infinite Display resolution.*
*Two displays (2064x2208 resolution per eye) combined with Meta's Infinite Display optical stack.

The initial leaks from SadlyitsBradley on Youtube indicated there would be two LCD panels instead of a single LCD panel for the front display. However, Brad later corrected this information, stating that the design had been changed to a single panel. The final product features two adjustable LCD panels, providing approximately a 30% boost in pixels due to IPD adjustment. This results in a more immersive experience for the user.
Additionally, the lower price point outside the US and the reduction in DRAM are both positive developments for SLR. While 12GB of DRAM may be beneficial for gaming, the lower price point and resolution are both very good news for SLR. VR180 films should play just fine with 8GB DRAM.
[deleted] the lower price point outside the US
You mean because they had lowered the announced prices by 20 bucks a few days ago? Because the prices, at least in the UK and EU, are still about $80 above the US price.

The price reduction is substantial for non-gamers interested in trying VR.
Germany, France, and Italy
€569.99 --> €549.99
UK
£499.99 --> £479.99.
Canada
$689.99 --> $649.99
These prices are now confirmed, not just speculation.
- Wow, the US dollar has lost lots of value recently. Someone told me it was losing close to 3% per month, but this is crazy.
- Meta calculated the prices equivalent to $500 USD in early summer 2023. Now you are right, because of the crash of American currency foreigners are paying more. I was wrong, SchnuppiLac! You were right!
€549.99 = $578.00 USD
£479.99 = $586.01 USD
$649.00 CAD = $482.10 USD
- Only Canadians save money. The rest appear ro save a small sum but actually lose money due to current devaluation of the American dollar.
Does anyone has information if XR2 Gen2 supports video decoding resolutions over 8K ? Maybe 12K or 16K ?
Can passthrough porn videos benefit from depth sensor?
Smh, one thing I'm noticing about these hands on reviewers is no one really seems mind blowned by any of the pass through games, even the stranger things game they played has pass through and they just describe it as meh, the pass through it self they say is better then quest pro, but no real mind blowing experience im finding from any of these hands on reviewers.
Vrsumo2017 I found that first encounters is amazing i mean just imagine a space ship breaking your ceiling and landing in front of you lol. This is what one of the reviewers saw
I wonder if the depth sensor can scan the entire house other than one room.
LOLBRUH I bet it will look amazing, but I seen around 6 or more hands on reviews and no one seems mind blowned
You got link to your video u saw?

yes I watched those too these are great reviews i seen
I preordered already

Lol the guy at the end
Said exactly what I thought looking at these games meta revealed at connect and a few months back. Smh
They need more Rated mature videos games, imo, I like blades and sorcery its really gruesome, I'll be slapping these viking hotties, chopping them up into torsos lol
But it gets real repetitive after a while, I'll stop playing it for a while, months, guess I might jump in it today see what new mods they got, I still haven't figured out how to do the nude mods, lol but you know. Lol idk.
But yeah meta needs more Rated M games.
boboweb No, AV1 8K 60fps max.

LOLBRUH It can only scan what it can see. If you walk around your house with the headset on then it can (and knowning Meta, probably does) scan the house.
Hairsational oooo this gonna be good!
Lol this guy told Zuckerberg to his face his quest 3 is still not mainstream, @ 50:54
Even that guy wasn't mind blown. Lol
And Zuckerberg called the quest 3 "the first mainstream headset" at connect
just ordered 512gb version, cant wait.
Vrsumo2017
Definitely a meaningful step change but still not mainstream = Because no one was ever buying that I bought the Q2 for beat saber, I was hoping I could tell people that I am owning the Q3 as a general computing platform for work but it feels still like we're a little ways away from this excuse becoming truly credible
SchnuppiLilac lots of people use VR for gaming or online chat and stuff. Don’t assume everyone knows you just got it for porn. My 11 year old nephew has one and he obviously is not using it for porn.
get ready for even more passthrough

The increase in FOV will decide whether I buy into the Quest3 or not. My Reverb2 FOV has never been close to the immersion I had with OG Vive FOV. I think it has something to due with the shape of my face too, never found a good replacement gasket fit.
Obviously if the color passthru works well that will be a selling point as well. I am a big advocate of VR instead of AR porn, but still will be fun to try AR. FYI, note that the color AR passthru is reported to have lower rez than the VR rez.
Un-tethered is a bonus.
Looking forward to some reviews by users here on the Forums.

What I liked was that they showed the quest 3 and also spent time on the Rayban smart glasses at Connect. One day, the headset will just be the glasses and you will be able to do everything in the Raybans. Maybe within 20 years we might be at this stage if not sooner.
doublevr get ready for even more passthrough
I hope we start seeing more passthrough too Really looking forward to revisiting the back catalogue in Oct on SLR. Thanks for building this for us fans @doublevr

rock1515 The increase in FOV will decide whether I buy into the Quest3 or not.
I thought it was the same size as q2 but reviewers are saying it's wider. Wider then qpro
I really don't see any downside to getting the Q3...it's better than the Q2 without a doubt and apparently better than Quest Pro too. It's the best headset ever made thus far, unless you're willing to wait and drop 4k on the Apple Vision Pro. That one will be insanely good but for most majority of people are not paying that much for an experimental tech imo. So this is a no brainer..l.the best headset you could currently get on the market for under 1k. I've never seen the Pico or other headsets mentioned in here, but I doubt they are currently better than Q3 as well.

Meta has spent a shitload of money the last year or so on metaverse tech and VR, so I'm really expecting this to be a significant upgrade to everything. I think Apple will become the VR company for companies, sponsors and professional realm and Meta will cater to the average consumer, they've invested a TON to work on this and lost stock value for a while because of it. It will be EXTREMELY dissapointing if Q3 doesn't deliver.
Hairsational It can only scan what it can see. If you walk around your house with the headset on then it can (and knowning Meta, probably does) scan the house.
If they're getting the full UHD 360° scan of my schlong, I'm not too worried about them seeing my shitty taste in home decor

"@Hurto11"#p58965 I really don't see any downside to getting the Q3.
It's expensive for many consumers... We're deep in a recession... Unemployment is high in most countries, and many people need multiple jobs to survive.
That said, I'll be getting one. I don't think it's worth waiting a year for the Quest 4/Quest 3s model that Meta plans to release in October 2024.
Current leaks suggest a cheaper Quest 3s in October 2024, featuring two OLED screens at Quest 2 resolution and no passthrough or controllers. Some folks who want to economize could wait a year or wait until April 2024 for Pico 5. Leaks suggest Pico 5 will have a resolution of 2,500 x 2,500 per eye.

What worries me the most is that my handtracking data might be misinterpreted
SchnuppiLilac Quest 2 already does that. The first time I left the automatic hand-tracking stuff enabled, I saw my virtual hands come into existence only to jerk for a couple of seconds before sliding inside the Handy (with a virtual hand "floating", I was holding the device IRL)

Lol Zuckerberg said it turns out people really love fitness in vr, yeah mark we really love fitness in your helmet
You know vr porn consumption "activity" probably out ways everything in their data, lol it's # 1
Lol watch how much they see their pass through gets used on the quest 3 but it won't be used with the zombies or punching octopus lol
Our color pass through is hit! Yay!
Lol
Realistically avatar interview with Zuckatar.
PRE ordered it...bestbuy for 700bucks even.
Could av1 code and wifi6e make quest3 a dp connection headset?
