  • Scripts not being send to Handy or timing out

Using the Quest native SLR app and a lot of times I get a timeout error or the script just not being send to the Handy. It becomes more apparent when browsing videos quickly. I also see a lot of 'Handy connected' notifications coming up while the wifi connection of the Handy is up and running. I also had scripts continuing to play when switching videos a couple of times. I don't have any of these issues with other apps so I don't believe it's my Handy or Wifi connection.

In addition to the timeouts, I also noticed it takes a lot longer to send the script to the Handy compared to other apps.

rerun119 @Denarius - does this happen constantly every session for you guys or does it only happen occasionally?

I've reported this issue to the team to see if this is something we can fix, but potentially it could be an intermittent Handy's own server related issue as well

RealcumberScripts It started I think 3 days ago. It happened twice again last night. I don't know if its the handy or SLR. It says something on the screen like "lost connection to the handy, disabled" Thats the last part of what it says. The whole thing that is written is longer but it is only up for a second so I don't really have time to read it all. After it says that you can't stop it, or pause, it just keeps playing the script. Even if you go into setting and turn off the handy connection it keeps playing. The only thing I can do is unplug it.

RealcumberScripts In the beginning it didn't happen every session (also the reason why I hadn't reported it earlier), but it started happening every session since about a week or two. It typically goes like this:

      • Turn on the handy and let it connect to Wifi
      • Start SLR
      • Handy light is green and the 'Handy connected' message pops up
      • I start a SLR video, wait about 30 secs/1 minute and expect the 'Sending script to Handy' message to pop up, instead I sometimes get no message at all or the 'Handy connected' message pops up again. Other times I get the 'Failed sending script to Handy' message. I usually exit the video and pick the same or another video.

If any of the above scenarios happen again I go to 'Settings' and click on connect next to the Handy key even though the light is green. I don't know if it's intended but nothing happens if it's already connected. I then disable/enable the Handy with the button above the Handy key (forgot what it's called) and try to play a video again. If this doesn't fix it I give up and quit the app.

Sometimes it does work flawlessly, but just the thought of it breaking again when trying to play a different video kills my immersion.

RealcumberScripts Sorry for the late reply. It has been the same/more frequent honestly. Especially when I switch videos I either get a timeout, it takes a few seconds before the 'Sending script to handy' message pops up or the script from the previous video gets loaded. In addition I noticed two new issues popping up.

Sometimes when I click on a video the SLR app/Quest2 freezes for 2/3 seconds before it responds again. Same thing could happen if i click on 'local files'

I also had the progress bar not working a couple of times. The video was playing normally, but I couldn't use it to seek and the time indicator stayed at 00:00. It's like the app thought the video wasn't playing. This also probably resulted in the script not being sent to the Handy.

I'm having this same experience as Denarius, pretty frustrating...when it works its great, way better experience with handy vs. lovense max2, I just wish it was more responsive/consistent. The other thing that is bothersome is sometimes I hit the haptics toggle in the video player bar on the top right and it takes over a minute to be recognized. I've done the speed tests etc and my connection seems fine. I think you may be right @RealcumberScripts, seems like their servers are just lagging. This thread is a little stale, has there been any changes or anything we can try and do on the end user side to improve it? Thx! PS. I've downloaded all current updates for SLR and the Handy

I've had the handy for a little over six months. 1st time I used it on 2d porn and it was truly amazing. Thinking I had found the best sex toy EVER, I FINALLY was able to test it out in VR. The result was horrible. Connected rather easily and worked for about 10mins . . . . then . . . disconnected. Backed out, reset everything . . . back up and on my way to heavenly bliss and again . . . errors . . . UGH!!!! I have triple checked the power cord . . . my connection is super fast . . . . a couple of times, I got it working long enough to be desperately seeking the "pause" button for edging and BAM . . . paused the video but the handy continued on like a whore that had already been paid!! I've read, researched and tried everything . . . . keeps happening. Only thing I haven't tried is the SLR App instead of DeoVR. Felt like I would just get more frustrated if it worked on a platform that has an end of life coming up. BTW, faptap does fine now that I've figured out to make sure to not have 20 tabs open and to pause the current before I switched to another one. Just can't get DeoVR to be consistently stable.

tech32 - when does your disconnection occur? While using a downloaded script or streaming any specific type of sex toy script on SLR?

Can you reproduce the issue by using the same script and same time stamp?

(also try to make sure to close all other browsers or apps while using the handy to ensure only the Handy is connected to DeoVR)

RealcumberScripts the disconnection is random and happens on any video. Streaming is all I've tried. Works fine with the handy website . . . just DeoVR seems to be affected while at SLR.

Just an update . . . yesterday I gave it a shot again. Rebooted PC and started from scratch with nothing else running in the background, other than necessary programs. Connected for about 3 minutes this time before disconnecting. . . UGH!!!! Seeing this issue all over but no real fixes. Sad.

Same issue. "Error sending script to handy" 400 error. Only happens in DeoVR. So frustrating, totally kills the experience.

slrdigital Hey guys, really sorry to hear this issue happening - hopefully we can figure why some of you are having this issue.

Have you guys tried contacting SLR support directly through the help form?

If you get disconnecting or error sending script to handy errors - have you tried closing the app, and unplugging the handy, then re-opening the app and reconnecting one more time and seeing if the error still remains during that reconnect?

RealcumberScripts I don't think this is a DeoVR issue. The equivalent happens with Heresphere too. But it worked for me last night. I think the handy peeps need more server capacity.

Thanks for the reply. didn't see this until now.. I'll open a support ticket as well.

The only temp fix I've found is to completely reboot the handy and quest 3... which entirely kills the experience in the process.

Wasn't clear on the network routing / data flow for this scenario.. If the script files themselves get sourced from SLR but still have to route through "the handyverse" - that would seem to be a bottle neck and not really an efficient design... But guess that makes sense if handy still owns control and registration of the handy device itself.

But these are small files. With Gigabit connections it would seem strange that a small csv file could choke their servers... Unless billions of people have now discovered this tech : ) and everyone's downloading csv's at the same time.

RealcumberScripts I know that it happens with a Pimax headset and Quest 2 headset from my end. It has always happened but it is getting worse.

One thing SLR could do to help a little would be to have the re-sync button in the menu page because now you have to go to settings and then reload the scene. This all takes so much time and I dread it every time.

Also the script gets out of sync with the video every time you put up the menu. Exiting the menu causes a little delay in the scene so if you have to change some setting a couple of times then it is completely out of sync.

Hey guys, we are looking into the issues mentioned here, I will keep you updated on the progress.
