I figured out a way to get it running..
In AppData > Local > SLR VR Application folder, SLR.exe gets run, and that's constantly asking to update and failing. When hovering over it, I see the version of this says 1.7.0.0
When performing the update, it writes an update zip file that's 190some MB. Between the time of the update downloading and when the app says it's Extracting, I copied that update zip and posted it into a newly created folder on the desktop. After the app finished Extracting 800 or 900some MB, it fails with the photo shown above and automatically deletes the update zip that it created in AppData > Local > SLR VR Application folder
So I extracted the update zip file that I had copied into the newly created folder on my desktop.. and by the names of the files and folders within (MonoBleedingEdge, SLR_Data, Unity whatever, etc.) I saw that they go into the AppData > Local> SLR VR Application > temp folder.. so I cut and pasted the extracted zip files from the folder I made on my desktop over to the AppData > Local> SLR VR Application > temp folder, overwriting what was in that folder.
Now I can run the app with the SLR.exe in that folder and it says that is file version 1.8.0.0. The file version is still 1.7.0.0 in the main folder and still has this continuous update failing error.
Now you can right-click on this SLR.exe in the "temp" folder and create a shortcut to this 1.8.0.0 version that you can then cut and paste (the shortcut you just created) to your desktop if you want, but I think maybe SLR needs to update their app download on the website to the current version to avoid this problem that affected at least me.. but I typed this out in detail in case anyone else has the problem, or it pops up for anyone in the future, this is the workaround
