I am wondering what's going on at Naughty America in terms of VR. They stopped releasing VR videos under Tonight's GF already in April, and now also on the main site the intervals between VR releases seem to have increased.
Considering that also SLR had to scale back their output lately and still none of the remaining big players seem to be interested in joining in, is VR porn becoming a dying niche?

SchnuppiLilac it’s always been a niche and the people who watch it seem happy to keep it that way. It’s difficult enough to get people into VR porn because of the need for an expensive headset and, in many cases, an expensive PC too. Once you are in though, it’s a small number of sites containing pretty much the same type of content across the board. It’s a niche within a niche.
If you’re a fan of IR porn with girls getting fucked by huge dicked black guys (a pretty popular area of porn) there’s nothing in VR to entice you over.
If you’re a fan of anal with top stars (standard in flat porn), there’s very little to entice you over but, if you want DP or gangbangs, that goes to pretty much zero.
How about girl/girl? Next to nothing.
Rough sex/BDSM? Virtually nothing.
Unless you’re interested mainly in all natural flat chested teen looking models doing vanilla GFE porn, often fairly unknown new models too. VR has very little for you and the fans are very determined to keep it a closed shop. They don’t want it branching out into any other areas of porn. They also don’t want to pay for it, they want to pay one small monthly fee and get everything on one site.
I can see why none of the big boys want to get involved. Even doublevr himself has said it’s simply not sustainable for a new standalone paysite to start up. That’s how stagnant it is. Naughty America are the only one of the big studios who really gave it a proper go and they’ve obviously come to realise that it’s not really worth it.

petermc I think there is way too much emphasis on the POV style of porn. Yes, one thing VR porn can do is let you "be" the guy screwing the porn star(s) but I don't see why that should be the ONLY thing VR porn does. What if you happen to like being a voyeur watching people have sex, which is what you are with most flat porn? There's very little VR porn catering for you. That's why there are so few lesbian videos to give an example of one genre. Videos where you ARE one of the girls are just weird and too many of the other lesbian videos cast you as the boyfriend or roommate who is getting to watch 2 chicks together and they both look at you and talk to you. OK sometimes but I would prefer to see a VR version of the kinds of scene Girlfriends films make, where you are invisible and just watching 2 girls in a private moment.
I think it's affecting other genres too - with POV anal sex you are just looking at someone's back, which is probably why there is so little gay VR porn. I suppose if you like interracial, you are losing something by having to "be" the black dude.
