sounds great! ๐Ÿฅณ
how can non-fisheye vr180 videos use this?
can it handle semi-transparent pixels in the alpha or only full opacity & full transparency?
and how come that we can't use a file type that supports alpha channel like .webm or .mov?
anyways, i'm really looking forward to it ๐Ÿ˜‹

    petelee Hey,

    • converting equirectangular projection to fisheye should be no problem
    • its 8bit, so I that means 256 shades of grey / transparency
    • it is down to player our app uses, of course using video format with alpha would be cool, nothing we can do at the moment about it sadly

alina Still not ready, we had to move it to next release (scheduled on 17 April) due some stubborn bug our devs had to solve.

We uploaded a sample video that we are testing it on currently https://www.sexlikereal.com/scenes/alpha-test-33753
So this is how it will look for non passthrough viewers, no more solid green BG.

One good thing is that we got extra time to do proper color correction, I will sit down with post production team to get best result possible.

Thanks for prompt reply and all the work your team is putting forth so that we can enjoy great immersion. Hopefully it continues to get better and better!

just tested the new alpha passthrough feature & it's mindblowingly good! ๐Ÿฅณ
that is a monumental step! great work! ๐Ÿ™Œ
so you mentioned up top to maybe script a ffmpeg tool that takes a prepared alpha matt, breaks it into pieces and places those pieces on the fisheye video. is that something you can provide pretty please? ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ‘ˆ๐Ÿฅบ

petelee Yes, the tool is ready, give me few days to figure out how to share it. Will follow up in this thread.

Sandi_SLR any update when new greenscreen video will be release?

Will there ever be a time when a green screen production video will be released weekly?

i really like this new alpha feature! i'm currently figuring out how to make videos with alpha๐Ÿ˜Š
my test files play fine if i store the file on the headset. now i would love to watch them via dlna. but for some reason only the _alpha in the filename_alpha_fisheye_LR_ALPHA.mp4 isn't recognized over dlna. everything else is. there is also no button showing up to select alpha.
also i would like to make tests with some keyframes, to see which scenes would make sense to process, but sadly png files aren't showing up in the files overview. if i simply rename them to filename.png.jpg they are showing up and i can view them. sometimes i forget to rename them though ๐Ÿ˜… so also being able to select png images in the files overview would be nice.

spacepirate fyi we are not lab rats. we are customers who are paying for quality content.. not unwatchable experiments

I don't mind a few unwatchable experiments mixed in with all the great content.

I love the passthrough feature and I'm glad to be a test rat as they roll it out.

Sandi_SLR Originals are not my domain, but I will say we are witnessing an experimental period

Please keep experimenting with passthrough. I love the feature and the only way to perfect something is to keep trying. I don't mind being a lab rat.

Sandi_SLR When we figure it out, there will be no need (or discouraged) to shoot on greenscreen

That's great if the alpha works 100% perfect on normal videos ๐Ÿ˜ฎ, but ๐Ÿค” I still think there will be potential in using green screen or the new alpha background yall using now for mixed reality.

Vrsumo2017 There are some limitations, when I say perfect for normal videos. If there is a really bright light source behind the actress, then you will notice this in blonde hair. So yeah there are scenarios you wont be able to get perfect result, but still it should be good.
One thing greenscreen is quite limiting with lighting, since you need to put all the lights behind the camera or you would see them, this limits any variations in lighting.

I still think a propper AI masking tool and cut out background is the way to go.
I have 200 videos into passthrough now and some of them are like incredible. LIKE WOAH
