iddqd hey bro, can yall add a slider that will transparent the edges of the vr videos.

The falloff transparents the whole picture so it fades out colors.

What I wanna do is Transparent just the edges of the picture.

I was working out along with a vr video on jillvr, I tried using the falloff but it just makes everything transparent, I just want to fade out the edges when in pass-through

Kinda like avp, you don't really see the edges of the video, it's faded

So, a slider you slide to right it fades out the edges, the more you slide the more it fades out making fov smaller.

You know what I mean?

HS is still a vastly superior player and nobody cares for the continue push to stream instead of playing locally the highest quality content possible

VRXVR There other options, like offering an additional higher bitrate streaming/download version for SLRO scenes.

I don't think you have anything to worry about tbh. As long as SLR continues to give absolute priority to streaming and continues to believe that 30mbps video looks identical to 100+mbps video, nothing will really change.

Hairsational download all your favorite scenes while you can if you want the absolute best quality. Also they are encoding all content to the new format that will help reduce file size and supposedly not have an effect on quality, but unless they are having all the editors re-encode all the scenes from the source material then you can imagine its just going to be another render from a previous file, the more you render over previous renders the more you lose each time, regardless of how little impact anyone claims.

        doublevr Thanks for clarifying.

I guess that means the masters for SLR Originals will become useless to those with older devices that can't play AV1 (e.g. Quest 2)?

doublevr h265 will only be for the smaller streaming-oriented files, and the master (Original quality download) will only be in AV1, right?

Hairsational I think AV1 will solve all the issues we talked about if it's done right hopefully, especially for the Original/ High Bitrate files. But I Wonder about the method they'll use for that and already asked about it. Let's hope for the best and everyone is satisfied with this new Codec.

            Best Regards.

Do I need to download new codex for AV1 for a PC using steam? I don't know what the difference is other than what people are saying about smaller size files and better quality.
What do I need to do to see this?

rerun119 Yes, you'll need AV1 Codec. It's free and available on the Microsoft Store. DON'T get it from any other sources. Save yourself the troubles.

You'll also need to have at least Nvidia 30 series GPUs or AMD equivalents. As these are the first GPUs to introduce AV1 hardware decoders. Otherwise, you can't play AV1 Videos smoothly at all.

              Best Regards.

VRXVR Terrible plan, not that they care for offline full resolution users clearly, but I wonder how many of their users are even on a 30 series card haha all in the name of further pushing streaming and cutting costs

Hairsational thats exactly what I meant, its no good, have fun upgrading your gpu to a 30 series or higher, if you already have one, you should be ok, but get used to having to conform to their standards, I say get as many of your favorite scenes in full quality while you can

VRXVR Can you give me a link to the FREE AV1 codex? When I try to look it up it says it is .99$. I don't want to give them pay CC for .99$

Hairsational Maybe I don't understand. I click on the "install" button and it opens the Microsoft store window.
Then what do you do? It says "open" Then it just takes you to movies you can buy.
At the bottom of the Microsoft window there is a place you can buy the AV1 video extension for .99$

Maybe I already have it? I'm not sure

rerun119 Are you looking at HEVC or AV1? The HEVC extensions costs $0.99 because the HEVC codec has royalties. The AV1 extension should be free because the AV1 codec is royalty-free. Are you using Windows 10 or 11?

Vrsumo2017 yeah, I know what you mean, the idea is good. Not sure we will implement it any time soon, but it can be implemented in the new rebuilt app (Hyper) when it's ready
