hey guys its been a while since ive been excited about a headset since my quest2, and this thing looks like will be killer for vr porn. besides great features like pancake lenses, manual ipd, inside out tracking, standalone...
what makes it stand out is
1st off glasses mode!!! this should be perfect for laying down position and only 250 grams should be barely noticeable.
2nd color passthrough i heard looks better than pico4 or quest pro. Cant wait to try this for passthrough vrporn. Also wifi 6e, should give great wireless connectivity for connecting to pc

Anyways im looking forward to picking one up when im able to as ive outgrown my quest2, and hope this thing gets all the vrporn app compatibility and support it deserves!

    👍 I’m seriously tempted 🙂, much prefer the form factor to the Quest Pro.

    I wish they would hurry up and come out with some proper reviews though. It’s clever how HTC seem able to control the flow of information from the media - everyone at the moment is mostly just quoting all the specs, even though they have had a good play at CES.

    It’s a big chunk of money though if you’ve already got a decent headset. Hope the image quality is good enough to justify the price. 🤷‍♂️

      that first i heard of that, pretty much every review ive seen they said it was super comfortable and light feeling and perfectly balanced with the battery, and much more comfortable than pimax, quest2...
      Laying down in glasses mode, i dont see any other headset could be as comfy with such a light weight.
      Hard to know for sure the true verdict on comfort tho as need to wear headset for long time to know. For example at first people said quest pro was super comfy when they tried it, than after people wear for hour plus everyone complaining about pressure on forehead.

        i wouldnt say its alot better than pico4 as that is def more "bang for ur buck" but pico 4 i wouldnt be able to lay down comfortably, where this in glasses mode would be perfect laying down and I think i would keep battery on for other positions . they both have their pros and cons

            I was thinking that too, great for laying cg rcg right, but if you decide to stand you have to be plugged in if u using glasses mode, then I was thinking how good do they stay on in glasses mode, if I'm looking down in a missionary or doggy, would they slip off, I'm sure u could put sum straps on them like glasses tho.

            With the pico 4, no glasses mode but at least the battery in the back looks way flatter compared to the vive, I still can't imagine laying with the battery behind my head tho. 🤷‍♂️

              I had a big session in my reverb g2 last night and it was an awesome experience 👍👏
              Fantastic headset, comfy, great image and sound (FOV is definitely a bit tight though).

              Hard to see how this Vive could be better (other than pass through, wireless and pancake lenses) for the money they’re asking.

              It’s just the lure of new tech! 😎

                Pimax crystal has 2880x2880, bigger fov, Good lenses, colors, black levels. Seems like a way better porn experience to me.

                  Try using a custom faceplate. I use one that puts the screen almost 1 cm closer to my eyes which increases the FOV and makes the G2 even better. 🙂

                    also heard great things about that reverb g2 esp its great image quality/resolution, no standalone tho is a deal breaker for me personally.

                    thing that bothers me most about my quest 2 is the lenses, i get really bad god rays and extremely small sweet spot which i heard pancake lenses solve. And the comfort which sucks, so been dying for upgrade for a while

                      fenderwq id wait for final product/ full reviews before pulling trigger on the crystal. So far most reviewers say it suffers from bad blurriness/focal point issue.

                          doefi3 yeah I heard about that. Seems to be an issue for a select group of people though and pimax said they fixed it. I guess we will know soon enough (end of February). But thanks anyways

                          The reason I mentioned the crystal is just that I think that for porn the xr elite is just a mediocre headset in evrything but convenience. Why not just get a Pico 4 for much less?
                          Something like the crystal, somnium vr one or 12k has potential to be a true upgrade in experience from current gen.
                          Maybe its just me but I'll wait for the 12k or maybe the somnium vr one.

                              fenderwq Hardware is only as good as its software and drivers, and many of these chinese companies have a bad history and dont have the best software and support. And as far as things pimax say, i wouldnt take their word for "everything is fixed" as they dont have a great reputation for many reasons, but again best wait for these things to get in reviewers hands to get the verdicts. also for me personally i value comfort and form factor above much else as i wanna spend hours in my headset also for gaming plus i love the modularity of the elite. But even then best i wait to get full reviews before making any decision

                                  doefi3 I have only owned one pimax 8k x so maybe other people have had issues. I personally had great and quick response when I first got it. After I got it it has worked great for a year now.
                                  It is bigger than other headsets because the FOV is huge but I got the weighted straps that you put on the back to balance out the weight. It's comfortable for me for hours.
                                  I'll say it again and it's just my opinion. Anybody talking about the best headset that does not say a pimax is because they have not put on one over their head to see the GIANT FOV. Huge, giant, life like fov. You do not notice the edges of the lens. The only thing you notice is the black of the video's edge.

                                    doefi3 to each its own I guess. I have a Pico 4, a valve index and the 8kx and even though the 8kx is not a polished headset the experience is so much better to me.
                                    I would love the xr formfactor and especially nothing at the back of my head but at the end of the day it's mostly about a truly quality experience while watching content to me and thats where you need fov, resolution, good lenses and colors. I just don't think the xr delivers something special there and personally I'll gladly sacrifice a little polish for that. Also once you have the pimax headset on it is comfortable for hours, at least to me. But like I said, to each it's own.
