soundjoe The OSR2/6 do require some tinkering, my opinion is their not really "plug and play". However, the community is great. They have an active discord, regularly help people troubleshoot, and the OSR creator is continuously updating his design.
Out of the box the OSR is not wireless but there is a custom firmware (Khrull's) that does support support wireless. Updating to Khrull's firmware is pretty easy and free. One thing to consider regarding wireless, the OSR devices can be built around different Arduino boards. The two most common boards are a Romeo mini and the ESP32 Dev Kit 1. The ESP32 has a wireless controller (that's what I have and I use it wireless), I don't believe the Romeo supports wireless.
I run Multifun player on my PC in room 1 and connect wireless to the OSR6 in room 2. I use DEOVR on the quest. It takes a few minutes to get everything setup, and the OSR still needs to be plugged in for power. Once everything is setup it works pretty well.
It cannot use the haptic functions in DEOVR.
