  • External hard drive capacity on local section of SLR in headset

just had a quick question given that i cant answer myself bc i have a quest2 which doesnt allow plug in access to an external hard drive to increase storage capacity while using the headset (storage just maxes at whatever you can fit on the headset itself)...

for anyone that uses an external hard drive connected to their non-quest2 headset and views videos/scripts via the local section of the SLR app, do you know if there is a capacity limit? as in, would the SLR app be able to access/play a full list all of the files on the external hard drive (even if its multiple TB of data)?

just curious for the future of headset playback once the quest2 eventually becomes obsolete

thanks so much

Why do you want to store your videos locally or transmit via a tethered headset, if Quest2 can handle all common video resolutions and bitrates via WiFi without problems? Just use SMB shares or XBVR on your computer or NAS and enjoy your Quest 2 free from any wires.

someoneX honestly i dont think i have the tech literacy to even understand what you just said lmaoo. Not sure what SMB, XBVR or NAS are. Im on mac, are any of those able to run on mac? with files accessible via the SLR app that way

Donnie32 thats a vid player though right? I have to use the SLR app to allow the haptics connect to play the scripts in sync w the vid

      @bamjus
xbvr runs on either mac or windoze. It will manage all your videos and scripts.

You download the app for your operating system from here,
      xbvr
      install and start it.
There is lots of documentation available. You could also read how to do it on eroscripts

In your vr headset you will be able to see and play all your local xbvr managed files using either deovr or heresphere.

scrptr9 Ooo thank you so much. i think i have heard about this over on ero but havent looked into it. appreciate you sending the links, i'll take a look at all of this

Does anyone know of any current or upcoming standalone VR headset that has capability for expandable storage (as in, allows a direct external hard drive plug in)? Does the meta quest pro allow for that? since quest2 does not.

bamjus why bother with that when you can connect storage to a computer and stream over wifi

spacepirate yeah you're right...having trouble with the last section of linking a local folder i made on stash with DEOvr. do you have any suggestions on how to specifically go about the DLNA/other approaches if applicable?

bamjus if you download files i can suggest heresphere. it uses smb rather than dlna.

The reverb g2 has many problems according to gamers, the resolution isnt one of em, best in its class for sure.
