Some of the early videos for SLR Originals are very impressive - classics of a new medium of porn. Although many of the recent videos are fine, I find that I don't like them quite as much. So I spent a short while thinking about why I prefer some of the older films to the newer ones.
CONTEXT
The SLR BTS videos really added to my appreciation of the main features. It was nice to hear a little about the model and why she entered sex-work etc. Her dreams, her realities, etc. It would have been nicer if during the interviews she removed her clothes and progressed flirtatiously towards the actions of the films. But the little intros were a fun extra. (Maybe add: Weigh-in, change into costume, grooming check, shower / cosmetics, something different...)
MUSIC / AUDIO INTRO
The music and audio intro created a sense of atmosphere that added to the high-quality deliverables of the main films. This characteristic is especially effective in films like Breakfast for Tiffany or 50 Shades of Blake Blossom. The intros added branding and polish.
TITLES
A title screen is a simple added touch that shows care.
CONCEPT
The earlier films each had a developed concept that seems lacking in some of the newer films. Many users have given ideas that SLR could use to break away from the now-standard rich-babe-in-mansion concept that pervades the recent films. Poverty provides a unique, gritty and realistic setting that makes the sex seem more real.
SUSPENSE
For fuck sake, don't just start with the sex directly, or create foreplay with the male actors (like the Ariel Darling film). The suspense comes from the dirty talk that precedes the action of the main feature, like the Sex Shop film.
CLOSE-UPS
Learn from JAV and do full body explorations before starting with the sex. Guys who just want to skip ahead to the positions always have the option to do so. And give close-ups of different body parts, not just the dirty bits. JAV does this really well.
USE SHADOWS
Use shadows as a means of storytelling. Some of the earlier films were more brave in the way they used shadows, like the Witcher 3 Parody. A little darnkness goes a long way to create mood and to distinguish the high quality workmanship of competent directors - like Alex Nash - from novices of the field.
SIZE MATTERS
Seriously I'd prefer to download multiple films at 20 or 30 GB to gigantic mega-films of 100 GB. If the studio file is above 40GB that's a sign the film might be split in two. It's better to have fewer films of high quality than regular updates of unwatchable stuff.

Why do the women look like giants in the recent films? I suppose this is really new hardware for recording?

- “Teach me VR Porn!” A model very experienced in VR porn (Melody Marks) guides an inexperienced assistant director through all the scenes, on how to set up cameras and lights.
- “Hole in Three!” A model arrives in the studio with three male porn stars. They have a short chat. Through some randomizing method it is determined which guy blows his load in which of her three holes. Starring Fiona Frost.
- “Directed by Princess Donna Dolores!” Donna has gone missing for years but is still in porn. Bring her in for a scene like PublicD1sgrace.
- “Scarlett Scars”. A Scarlett O’Hara BDSM themed fantasy starring Mouseline with a wild field and house in the background, like this painting “Christina’s World” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christina%27s_World.
- “Body Doner Sex Study”. A teen pornstar volunteers for a scientific sex experiment with speculum fun and awkwardness leading to sex. Starring Blake Blossom.
- Historical fantasies: A Cave-girl Fantasy, sex in a Tipi, and sex in a Victorian Greenhouse. Starring Cleo Clementine.
