quest throttling my headphone volume? only get half volume now?

headphones plugged into quest are being throttled...can only get half volume now for this APP. watching VRyoutube, actually get a message to change the volume in the media settings of android app. i got ahold of meta help in text? two hrs and they don't know what i'm talking about

when unplug the 25dollar sony earbuds...the volume goes back to FULL volume. when plug back in...it's half?

do i need new headphones? can't imagine getting that message of changing the volume in the media settings of android from the cheap pair of earbuds?

buying new ones could be easy...just don't want to do it if its a META issue

spanker I had this same new volume warning message show up recently (i suppose from the latest automatic quest 2 update). i also wear headphones and play them close to full volume just based on how the master volume is so low in general. i was able to figure out a way to turn it off by messing with the quest settings in headset. i messed with a bunch of settings and it was a few days ago so i cant remember EXACTLY what worked, but i went and turned off all of the on screen notification settings/sound alerts. i think that might have been it. if that doesnt work, i just went through most of the settings menu for any global change that felt like it could do the trick and eventually got it. sorry i dont remember the exact settings toggle, but it definitely definitely worked and i managed to disable the messages as the default. hope that helps

well i bought a NEW pair of sony plugins....they were on sale for under 20 bucks

it was funny when the meta guy kept asking me what other content...i would say movies that were downloaded from my laptop...the dude was like WHAT? seemed like he was taken back it was not meta-sanctioned content from their ecosystem

have a feeling of Lil mettling going on by meta on this...as way to get us to log in? sign up? not a fan...love the Q1 headset though.

I’m getting the warning about the volume being above recommended levels but it doesn’t stop me when I override it and turn it up.

was getting those same warnings about once every two weeks. i keep it on max volume

BUT now? it's locked at half volume when the earbuds are PLUGGED in. without them plugged in? volume can be maxed out again

i tried turning off all notifications...still have the problem

new earbuds coming from amazon today...will see if that works?

I have a user who said he could still change the volume for his earphones with the physical volume rocker at the underside of the Quest 2.

It's kinda funny though. Meta limits the volume to protect your ears, I assume. But completely forgetting about the already hearing impaired that now don't hear shit.

got on phone and went into this app and vr youtube individually and turned off notifications

it is a notification pop up

HI, I've had similar issues with headphones on a Quest 2. It was fine until recently and now if I try using the on-screen slider volume control in Deo VR (or any other app - for example YouTube behaves just the same) when headphones are connected it won't get louder than about 70%. This limitation started to happen a week or so ago.
If headphones aren't connected there's no problem increasing the volume to 100%.

However, I discovered that if I use the physical volume control on the headset I can get the volume up to 100% even with headphones connected - so that, at least, is a workaround.
I've reported the problem to Meta support to see if they know anything about it and can get it fixed.
I prefer to use headphones or earphones because I suffer hearing loss, but when the volume is 70% it is way too quiet.

so i went back into my phone app for meta last night went into EACH app i USE like VR youtube and this one and turned off the notifications

as i was getting notifications that the volume was too high?

i did use the manual volume on the headset (on the bottom of it) and it worked 🙂

not sure me turning off the notifications helped or not or JUST the manual button on the headset worked. i keep getting the notifications of volume being too high, but i can keep it 🙂

the 2hrs with meta chat? the dude did bring up the volume control but said it was on the controller.

somehow remembered i would hit it accidentally with thumb sometimes as took headset off

BUT extremely happy this is solved now
