I exchanged words with the Zuck back in the day. Spending money is not making money. Facebook's business model was never about making money, although they made some money. Zuck is in it for higher goals. FB / Meta can spend billions on R&D but what we see with Pico 4 (I suspect) is incredible corporate espionage. How did Pico develop a clone of Quest Pro launched a month before Quest Pro? Obvious answer: for every billion FB / Meta spends on R&D, Pico / ByteDance only needs to spend a much smaller amount to steal the project specs, or to take the ideas when someone leaks them, and they win. FB / Meta will never be able to manufacture goods as cheaply as any Chinese corporation. Unless FB / Meta is willing to sell what they create at a loss they will always lose in the developmental costs to Chinese companies. In the words of Steve Jobs, "Good artists copy, great artists steal". And the pirates of Silicon Valley just got pirated by the great buccaneers of the CCP!

I should add, because there is one card that hasn't been played. The big deal about eye-tracking probably has to do with multi-focal technologies, because FB / Meta wants to create a replacement for the desktop-monitor. Eye-tracking allows readers to hold virtual books and to skim through virtual documents. I wouldn't be surprised if the real 'surprise' of the Quest Pro launch was the reveal that FB / Meta perfected multi-focal tech.

sounds like another case of chinese stealing other peoples ideas to create a knockoff instead of creating their own. But like every chinese knockoff, they are never as good quality wise as the original. Also headsets like many other electronic devices is only as good as its software/drivers and I doubt it will receive the amount of software support and reliability that a meta headset will. Pico im sure is more focused on churning out new version headsets as soon as they can rather than perfecting one and giving it long term support, kinna similar to how also chinese owned pimax operates

[deleted] remember that war in Ukraine? When Putin shuts down that pipeline to Germany the Europeans will need energy from somewhere

Well, I honestly didn't think that America would blow up the damn Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which is what it's looking like now @Vrsumo2017

      Cray-Cray-Crazy at a new level.

Check out the leaked Quest 3 AutoCAD files posted elsewhere on the forum. Probably gonna cost a lot, tho.

Don't get all the love for the Pico 4. It won't be available in the Us for launch, and it will likely sell in China before getting here. I have my doubts we'll ever see it sold in the US.

mookiemeatball My opinion: Pico 4 will be released in North America as soon as the European market is stable. Bytedance already announced that some of the preorders will not be available to ship immediately on Oct. 18, and orders will be filled in the order they were received. That seems to indicate demand is higher than anticipated. Once all the backorders are filled and there is an adequate supply to keep the current European market orders filled, they should be able to get a good estimate of what the North American demand would be and have a good revenue stream to apply toward stockpiling enough headsets for the North America launch. Meanwhile, North Americans can order copies from European sellers if they are so eager to acquire early. If Europe and North America had launched at the same time, either the production shortfall would be far worse than it is, alienating more customers who had preordered, or else they would have had to ramp up production to a much greater degree or delay the launch.

What they are doing makes sense to me. And if they do effective marketing within TikTok they could bring a whole new customer base to VR. So I predict Pico 4 will be released in the US within six months.

Who buys stuff on launch day, anyway? Wait a week and buy through retail, because unless demand is really high stores will get these.

I understand that you may not "love" Pico. So, buy a Quest 2 if you haven't done so already or consider getting Quest Pro, if you can afford it (Pico 4 has better screens)

Would you say the bigger FOV is a huge improvement compared to the Q2? And a reason to switch ...? I'm really thinking about ... plus the color passthrough is a funny thing I guess πŸ™‚

mnmlikereal The fan noise is present like others have said before, but does not take away from the immersion too much.

Ah man, but is it noticeably loud?

I heard you can feel a small breeze when it blows, true?

          Check that out πŸ‘

Last but not least, Deo VR where you can enjoy the best moments of your favorite videos!

enjoy the best moments of your favorite videos! Oh hell yeah! The best moments 😏πŸ₯‚πŸ‘

          Meta ever promote deovr?

            a month later

mnmlikereal Although I do notice that there is more overall glare with the pancake lenses compared to the fresnel of the Quest 2. For example, when DeoVR loads the icon gives off a lot of blue haze around the logo. Not an issue once the video is playing though

Just got mine today, that what i notice too, I can see glare at the menu, that earth at the menu gives off sum glare, if you look at it you notice it, there's still a sweet spot but the picture looks clear in games and vrp, the glare thing tho reminds of gearvr, that's how gear vr was it had glare but in vr movies it was fine, and you didn't notice screen door unless you looked for it, but gearvr had no sweetspot or lens rings. So far I like it, gotta get use to the battery in back of my head tho, every time I wanna move my head up while laying it'll kinda move the Pico and give me blurriness, the pass through looks good better then black and Grey on quest 2, kinda disappointed having like a red light on makes it look fuzzy looking like quest 2 pass through but red instead of Grey. Dim regular light works OK, but brighter works better. So far seems to work good no issues.

Hey G, is it me or does the Pico 4 feel heavier then a quest 2 if you hold them in each hand, wearing it feels lighter then quest on the head but holding at the same time Pico 4 feels heavier, idk πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

So far it's good, gotta keep messing with it. πŸ‘

Got deo to work real quick, but i think I notice something, if I turnt tracking off, deo pass through wouldnt work, I'd turn on pt mess with settings and it wouldnt work at all, so I was like wtf, so i turnt tracking back on and it worked, with quest I like to turn guardian off so I can re position the models easier, I hope the Pico able to do this, need to test it out. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I like the recline feature, thats another thing that reminds me of gearvr.

Have you tried downloading skybox vr apk, I downloaded one but it say it was a daydream version, it wouldn't work. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

@Vrsumo2017 So i've been using an HTC Vive from years ago when it first came out, thinking of getting a Pico 4 . I use SLR app, SteamVR and Whirligig, Joyfunscript, and can use DeoVR as well. As for switching over to the Pico 4, would i be able to still use most of these or would i have to change up my routine ?
