I'm interested in learning what programs, settings, etc. are used to remaster at high quality, while also having relatively low bitrates (and therefore relatively low file sizes).
I'm able to remaster videos myself using Topaz Video Enhance AI (and there are other applications that could be used) and they look clearly better, but the file sizes are way too huge. They come out like 300,000kpbs or 600,000kbps, etc. Then if I change the Constant Rate Factor to produce lower file sizes, the quality is very poor.. throwaway.. worse than where it started. Obviously I'm assuming I now need a compression program and I'll try apps like Handbrake and whatever else I can find that might work. But if the SLR team can say what applications and settings they use (I know I've seen use of variable bitrate mentioned I believe in a blog post, but I don't know what applications).. or if members have suggestions, that would be helpful.
Along with this, I had an idea for a "Community Remastered 8K" and "Community Remastered 12K" (with Pimax 12K coming out soon) section to be added to the Downloads area. Unpaid I'm sure people would do it, to see videos at higher quality, if you provided guidelines.. or start a program like with the Scripts, where we can utilize the community and all of our high powered PCs to remaster many videos that would otherwise remain untouched and outdated. Community members can remaster the videos on their PCs, submit them for review by whoever handles remasters/reencodings currently at SLR, and then they'd be posted in the "Community Remastered" section for others to download, if they're done correctly up to standard.
