Hey everyone. Quick question. Is the best way to determine an appropriate interactive script device ms delay playback to run a speed test and see what latency it puts out?

Seems like a simple question. I just hadn't considered the delay until now and am curious if this is the correct way to tailor the delay to your own personal internet connection.

And I guess a more important (but subjective) question, does syncing it with the appropriate delay (ie about -50ms in my case) make a noticeable difference as opposed to running no delay?

bamjus TBH I think the best way to figure it out would just be to first turn it on and see how your device runs in comparison to a script of your choice without any adjustments. It should be pretty easy to tell if the movements do/don't match what you're seeing on the screen, and then adjust accordingly a bit at a time until it all seems to match up perfectly.

In general you will 10000% want to make sure your device is synced with whatever the correct delay is for you personal setup (whether that's no delay, 100ms, etc.) as accurately as possible, since imho that's the difference between "oh this feel pretty nice while I'm watching some VR porn" to "jesus christ it's like she's actually here".

justsomedude101 thanks for the detailed reply! Understood. So does the latency test apply to the ms delay or not so much? I havent used a delay until now and havent feel like the sync was grossly improper, but i can always mess around w the delay to see the difference.

bamjus When you mention the latency test, are you referring to the SLR Speed Test? If so, that's specifically in regards to your VR headset, not your toy. I'm not aware of any digital method of determining latency for the toys themselves, though @RealcumberScripts would be able to correct me if I'm just out of the loop (which tbh happens frequently 😅 ).

That's why I would suggest literally "eyeballing" it. It really shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes to determine whether you need your script movements to be slightly ahead of the video, slightly behind, etc. And then it's just a matter of fine-tuning,

justsomedude101 yeah i was referring to the SLR speed test. And ok gotcha, that makes sense, i will go play w it to figure out the fine-tuning. thanks so much!!

bamjus - What toy do you use again?

Check the delay number that shows in player tab main screen in haptics connect app - you will want to match that number as your delay (its usually not a big difference for non Handy toys)

Its good if not better to physically watch the toy moving with the video eyeballing it as @justsomedude101 says above, but either way, a proper sync delay makes a world of difference thats for sure

Handy will definitely need to adjust the Handy delay setting to around -50ms if you live in EU side of the world, and -150ms if you live in North America side of the world

In my experience your device will come with a recommended delay time. For a Handy its 20ms and for a Kiroo its 30ms (I think). These have been spot on for my usage but its definitely a good place to start and you can adjust from there. Whether or not you're on a wired or wireless connection, the quality of your ISP and your setup in general can all impact your personal sweet spot.

But because its stimulating you, you will most likely be able to tell when you've got it "dialed in" without any trouble ... you'll feel it 😄

Would be nice to have an actual calibration tool inside the app, similar to Audio/Video synchronization tools AVRs, TVs and STBs have.
