Havent found anything in the forum search for "8k", so i dare to open this question.

I have WIn10, A Vive Pro, GTX 1080ti , 32gB Ram, i7 6700k. Hardware decoder LAV "Nvidia CUVID".

Any 8k video i download stutters as hell.
4/6/7k videos dont stutter, only 8k.

Here is my question what exactly do i need in hardware etc. to watch 8k stuff from SLR in VR ?

    Lurks you might also try slowing down the speed. 75% is pretty close to full speed and it may give your hardware the breathing room to smoothly play scenes. Pure speculation based on my own experience much further down the hardware chain…

      Something I have noticed with the headsets I have tried (haven't tried the one you have.) is that they don't like heat. If I play games first then go into a video anything of 8k resolution will be very choppy. However if I just started up and go right into 8k it runs perfectly. Also the transfer speed needs to be 5GHz if your connecting wirelessly to deliver 8k seamlessly.

      1080Ti should be able to decode 8k HEVC.
      But your system is quite old, it could be simply to slow to render the 8k output.

        Lurks Hello! Could you please clarify which system drive you are using ssd or hdd?
        Do you watch 8 or 10 bits and get stutter? You still have a fairly powerful processor, perhaps the problem is not in the hardware but in the software...
