  • what improvement and revelution will appear this year?

I think SLR is doing a pretty awesome job really with many enjoyable movies. They also seem keen to push the technology and VR as a whole forward and are not afraid to go somewhere less vanilla every now and then as well (e.g. bukkake scene, glory hole scenes, etc.). Would I like to see many things that are not in VR yet as well? Sure, quite a lot really. It will come though as more and more people get a headset.

We are close to releasing

  • depth maps for fixing optical distortions and getting some of 6DOF features
  • 8K60FPS becoming default
  • hands tracking and passtrough
  • eye tracking coming in the next gen headsets

Not sure what everyone is expecting -
Scenes are basically a stereoscopic 3D display, which represents the best the cameras can do.
Add tactile elements (toys) and you make another jump closer to reality.

Beyond that, you have these video game type "experiences" with fake looking girls. This offers greater immersion and control, but lacks realism.

Perhaps the best thing would be to morph the graphics of a video game experience with the photo realism of a real woman, so it felt like you were interacting with flesh and blood instead of a creepy mannequin

      Well-executed passthrough will be a game-changer

As will this. As detailed as the virt-a-mate models have gotten, I've wondered why we haven't seen proof-of-concept on this yet. Being able to touch, squeeze, mani;uplate, and script a scene with my favorite model in my home with seamless passthrough? Good lord. Just add the haptic bodysuit and they'd have to add a whole new class of disorders to the DSM-5.

catflap oh BOI! You have no idea the stuff that's coming! But much of it can take a long time because of cost, though many of the tech and proof of concepts already exists. Not just the XR, but also for tactiles!

ie there exist two techniques already for multifocal VR. Which also uses eye-tracking to realize the implementation. One of them is doomed to fail though imo because it's mechanical, the other is digital.

Then there are different rendering techniques that render everything in 3D, like a game does. They are not images (pictures)

Full body tactiles without having to wear anything. (Uses supersonic sound 'canons' ). Fabrics that can move realistically and do not use any kind of motor, so it will even be silent!

Holograms you can TOUCH (and feel and hear). Is a more advanced implementation of the supersonic sound.

That's off the top of my head, I would have to look everything up.

I'm still waiting on a new update for VAM 2.X. No real info announced since February 😞

supersonic sound cannons 🀨 you mean ultrasonic transducers

supersonic refers to speeds greater than the speed of sound
ultrasonic refers to high frequency sound waves beyond the limit of human hearing

this stuff is just cool haptics experiments but i dont see it becoming widely used in actual products anytime soon

spacepirate yeah, that's what i meant. I had the feeling there was something off when i wrote it πŸ™‚

There already are very small crude product of it.

But I saw a while back a video where they actually made it into directional 'cannons' instead of a surface.

I'm having a hard time finding this 'cannon' but I swear i saw it. And don't think of it as something big. It's the size a microphone.

A game changer imo would be for the VR porn director to be able to see in real time what is being filmed so they can adjust stuff to make the scene as good as it can be.

Seems crazy to me that a director can’t view the scene through their own headset as they are filming it and make sure scales and distances are correct, rather than go on past experience and hope it turns out ok.

fenderwq to be fair to them though, they really make it work, jav vids have become really good and clear and its only 4k, they have got the most out of it, very impressive

Ricster89 Not trying to bash JAV. In fact I think there is a lot to be learned from some of those vids in terms of immersion, intimacy, story telling, originality, etc.
Still, switching from a 4K JAV vid over to a new 8K vid is a huge difference. So I do hope they will update their rigs sometime.

fenderwq oh deffo, 100% i hope they upgrade to 8k, i just find it very impressive how good they make 4k look
