  • Audio delay when enabling Spatial.

I like using Spatial, but the delay kinda kill the immersion. I'm using quest 2, pc link(windows). Is there a fix for this?

All the spatial audio I tested seems to be out of sync quite a bit. I noticed this on the quest and on a pretty powerful PC.
On the Quest 2 the reaction to your head movements are also quite delayed rendering the whole thing reacting to your movement completely pointless, maybe the quest 2 is not powerful enough for it

Just making sure, did you guys enable spatial audio in the Windows sound settings?

Right click the sound icon in your Windows taskbar > Spatial Sound > Windows Sonic for Headphones

Nope, is that the reason why im getting delay audio? Ill try that and see.

Just tried it, still with audio delayed. Spatial only seem to work when using quest 2 as a standalone.

          alibaba Odd.

Do you have SteamVR running too, even if you use the Oculus software?
Can you check if the 'smoothing' feature in the advanced options in SteamVR is enabled (should be disabled for video)

The Spatial Audio is not something I personally have much experience with. Though the Smoothing feature I guess would more likely have a video delay, not audio. Hmm

alibaba If you have SteamVR installed, can you run it in the background, then launch the Oculus app?

              Rakly3

I could, but I'm not sure if that will do anything.

I dont see smoothing in steamvr settings, might not be available for quest 2. Spatial for pc only work when you start the video from beginning and not move the slider at all, the audio start going off sync when you start moving the slider.

Yes, but it is on Atmos. And no this can not make any difference, the output from the SLR App is 2 channel,.
It is also not that it is not working, the audio is multidimensional and it is also adjusting to your head position as it should.
But it is way too slow causing a noticeable delay. It is quite bad for immersion if the audio follows your head only half a second after you moved it, which defeats the point of spatial audio completely.

The regular audio is spatial anyway, just in a static way, the spatial audiostream tries to make this dynamic to your head position, which technically works but too slow to be usable.

Also at least on the videos I tried, the spatial audio mix is not great either. The directions are correct, but everything feels to be way wider then what you see on screen. The sounds all seem to be meters away from you, not great when someone whispers in your ear.

For now spatial audio is a great idea, but unfortunately not usable at all. The regular audio stream is way better as it is spatial as well, and absolutely perfect as long as you look straight.
