Harem 2 episodes: Pros and Cons?

Hey guys. We are discussing 2 parts harem policy as the guys overlooked to split it in two.

Otherwise it's much easier for us to handle two parts and also I guess it's easier to watch rather than seeking throughout 2h video.

Any thoughts?

doublevr I much preferred that Dream Team came to us in one part this time. Skipping to sections is not difficult because you guys already index the scenes according to action type.

What is not fun is abruptly coming to the end of the action and then having to wait days or maybe weeks to resume, and likely having non-related scenes drop in between.

The only advantage to this I can see is for those that rely solely on downloading the files, but if SLR is promoting streaming as much as possible, I’d wonder why you’d make that a deciding factor. But even for downloads, I’ve never enjoyed having multi-file experiences — so much cleaner to have a single file. Download managers help with the problem of pulling down large files, and are highly advisable for anyone downloading VR files, especially as studios upgrade to 6-8K files, so this kind of becomes a moot point too.

CVR got in the habit of splitting their BGGGG and larger scenes into two parts. It’s not something I’ve ever seen people in their forum express appreciation for; very much the opposite.

If you do decide that multiple parts is the better way to go, may I suggest that you at least release these on the same day so the overall experience isn’t dragged out over time? I can’t tell you how frustrating that can be. The wait (for over the better part of a week) to get part two of the first harem was excruciating.

No please not splitting up a single scene into multiple parts is the worst thing you can do.
Even if you release it the same time having to watch the intro twice is already annoying enough, and if the releases are a week or even more apart it only gets worse and it is extremely annoying if you start the video without realizing it is a multipart video, only to find out it stops in the middle of nowhere. I never watch multipart scenes until all parts are out, at least if I notice it before.

doublevr pros of split screen: gives pornstars a break to rest then give continued performance. Jav studios do it and there Jav stars look happy. Cons of split screen: 2 hour videos have bars so viewers can see any part of the video. An extra download to your limit of videos you can download.

My view: as a fan of Jav I am use to it. If it is easier for performers (pornstars) and shooting sure.

It doesn´t matter for the pornstars if the end result is cut into one or more videos.
You can do breaks in between and still cut it into the same video, which most likely has happened anyways, the 2h we see most likely is only a fraction of the time used for the shooting.

My preference is a single scene, but I can understand the file size problems that creates. If two scenes are the answer, please release both the same day.

I don’t really have any skin in the game here as these aren’t my type of scenes. If I was into it though, I’d definitely prefer one 2 hour scene over two 1 hour scenes.

I think what he's talking about is if the final video is 2-3 hours. He's saying what if they edit it to be part 1 and part 2 and find a split point.

I personally think it would be a good idea to give users the option for both. To download the full scene or to download it in parts. The reason being some of us like to download the highest quality file and if we don't necessarily care as much for all the intro stuff, we can download Part 2 that has more of the action in it. I've seen where you did this with past releases that had multiple parts and I ended up only downloading the parts I liked so it does save on hard drive space.

I think initially starting out nearly everyone will download the full file. Harem 1 also happened to have a really good intro. But that doesn't mean some people will like all future intros.

So if you end up eventually getting to say Harem 28, and there are tons of them and they are 100-200gb files to download the highest res original file, it's going to be massive that new users coming in would likely want that option to pick parts. It may be the difference between downloading anything at all or nothing for them and skipping it altogether.

What I would recommend is you list it on the site like you do as the full scene for those that want to download/watch the whole thing at once. Release it like that first so no one has to wait for parts. Then list it again in possibly 2 parts.
So you have 3 videos listed on your site, similar to how they do the multicam scenes and regular scenes.

For example, lets say it's a massive file...
Harem 28 Full Version 200gb
Harem 28 Split Version (Part 1) 100gb
Harem 28 Split Version (Part 2) 100gb

The key would be where you split it. I'd say intro could all be part 1 where there is no sex. And then maybe teasing/BJ can be added to that if the intro isn't long enough to be part 1. From there part 2 is the sex. And if it's too long, maybe you find a spot where all the positions change and that is part 3.

That way people have a choice, they can download the full file, or if it's too massive and they only like some of it, maybe they pick the part file instead.

Just some thoughts.

you could split the scene where the position changes and taper off with "to be continued" (eg doggy and missionary in part 1, cowgirl and reverse cowgirl in part 2) so that there is no abrupt end to part 1 or even split it based on location (eg fucking outside in part 1 and moving to the bedroom in part 2). i think its totally fine.

if anything splitting reduces the pressure to fit everything into one file and we could get a fuller experience with every girl instead of missing out on some (eg charly and coco in the volleyball scene).

I think a 2 hour scene is fine a split version would just be anoying. I'm not sure what the benefits would even be in having it split.

I prefer one long scene because two parts (especially if released on different days) detracts from the overall viewing experience. It’s like starting an epic film in the theaters, and have to come back 4 days later to see how the film ends. (Yup I’m comparing SLR harem scenes to feature blockbuster films because they are THAT good!)

However, I think actually the 2 hour runtime is slightly too short for a harem scene. Would be great to stretch these scenes to 3 hours if possible. If that is absolutely not possible for the backend / pipeline to handle on a file that big, then I think the scene is worth splitting if it means we will have a longer overall runtime. However, if this is the case, consider releasing both together or on the Saturday-Monday cadence.

Whatever you do, thank you so much for continuing the harem series. It’s been a helluva ride so far!

I’d rather not have to stop and start a new video if I had the choice. I don’t really need that long volleyball intro though either. Not sure you need a story in a harem scene tbh. Not sure there’s too many plausible stories you can tell that ends up with you alone with all these girls at once.

I may be wrong but I think most people would be fairly happy if you jump straight in and get to fuck a bunch of pornstars playing themselves.

petermc nope not true. I loved the intro. Keep it in. Easy enough for the impatient or bored to skip past it. Lots of people I’ve talked to in these forums appreciate the storyline, buildup, opportunity for tease and ogling the girls.

Out of curiosity though, would you rather have the long intro and have to split it into two videos as it’s too long or cut the intro and have a shorter run time which they can do in one video?

Not that anyone is saying that this is the choice, just genuinely curious.

petermc great question actually, and a fair thought exercise. If we’re forced with that choice I’ll still take the intro, every time. Buildup… the thing that explains why these women want me is very, very big for me. You were quick to say that there is no possible explanation so better to jump straight into the raunch. Me, I have endless fantasies that lead to the desired outcome. Rock God. Sports God. The inexplicable pussy magnet we’ve all known and never understood but always envied. My imagination runs wild, but also needs that foreplay.

I love story based porn but just think you’re limited with this type of scene and it would still be cool just for it to be what it is, you in a room with a load of pornstars, if they were looking to save some time to fit it into one video. This was a very long intro.

I had a suggestion to the intro talk: 2 versions intro and no intro.

I like the intros as they add to the viewers roleplay and I would rather not lose intros. If people suggested just add no intro content (which I don't know seems boring in my view, that just me)
