Meta (Oculus/Facebook) has released a new firmware update. v39
There's a known bug where after the update is complete you will only see a black screen and your controllers. The UI does not work.
How to prevent this:
- Before updating make sure you have ENABLED the guardian in the Quest 2 settings! If disabled, you will get this bug.
How to fix without factory reset:
If you have the Oculus app on your mobile phone or tablet, and it already has been set up, then open the Oculus app, go to casting, connect to your headset and start casting. Give it a moment. You'll know you are connected and casting if you can see your controllers on your phone as you see them on your headset.
Tap your phone screen to bring up a menu, tap Apps and run an app. This has to be an app that is not by Oculus/Meta/Facebook or sideloaded. So the browser, SLR and such won't work. Launch any other 3rd part app, ie DeoVR.
With the DeoVR app open, click the Oculus button on your controller to bring up the headset UI. It will work now. Open the settings, go to guardian and enable it.
Fixed!
