I tried the new video player in the Quest 2 but it cannot catch up the 90fps framerate, it is stuck between 77 and 81fps. If I switch back to the old player it gets 87-90 fps for the same scene. This is much independent of the scene. Resolution between 5k and 8k.
I hope you will optimize the new player until it hits the same performance than the old one before releasing!
